I just ordered a Big Gun race series pipe for my DS650. Big Gun suggest I use a 175 but I have heard several other things from the shops around here. They have said anything from 170 through a 180. As I am new to quad mechanics I am wondering if there is any trick to this whole thing. Getting the exhaust on will be no problem. Is there anything I should know before I go tearing into my carb. Has anybody had any experience in re-jetting a Ds650's card. Should I just take the thing out to the dunes and shoot it to put it out of its misery or should I put myself out of my misery?? Any info would help. Thanx! [Confused]

On my DS650 I am running a full graydon exhaust and a K&N in the air box with no lid. I am currently running a DynoJet 195 main and needle on the 3rd clip. DynoJet jets are differet than the stock Mikuni jets. Check out Jet compare page Another great reasource is the list of modified DS Doing the work on the carb is not hard, getting the 4 screws out that hold the bowl on is the hard part, 90% of the time they will strip and the best thing that works is a pair of needle nose vise grips. Alot of us replaced the screws with allen head bolts. Feel free to email if you got any more questions.

Thanks a ton. You have helped a ton. Do you have any other suggestion that would be good for my quad. Gearing?? Suspension??

As far as gearing goes, alot of people are dropping one size on the front sprocket to gain some more bottom end. With the exhaust and unrestricted air intake, you will gain some bottom end. Alot of guys change the CDI, on the DS650 the rev limit is set at 7800rpm, the valves don't float till 9000+ rpm. With the aftermarket CDI you can take advantage of the extra top end. As far as suspension goes, I think the suspension is great for a stock quad. Im a heaver guy so I adjusted the preload on the rear shock and it helped alot. You can always do aftermarket shocks, but cost big $$$$. A lot of DS 650 info can be found atv connection in the forums, Bombardier section.
