There is a quad for sale that I want to buy for my son. The seller does not have the title and said that he would send it to me after the transaction. He owes the bank $1,600.oo and is selling the 07 quad to me for $2,800.00. What are your thoughts on this? Any suggestions on a safe way to make this work for both parties?

make out $1600 directly to the bank and send that yourself with a notorized bill of sale signed by both of you and with the instruction to send the title directly to you and no one else. Call the bank yourself to see if that is OK with them.
Give the rest of the cash to the seller.
you may have to wait a few weeks for the bank to process and get the title to you. I would also suggest getting a copy of his statement to verify the payoff or do a conference call with the bank to verify the amount.
