How good do these things do in the sand?? Are they worth it for what they are??? Thanks for the imput.

Was fine for a teenager at Pismo (on knobbies).

My 13 year old son has one and loves it.
0 to about 45mph he's even with my Raptor, (OK, so I weigh 200 lbs more than him).

The 250 EX is excellent for small to medium build women of all ages, girls and boys over 11 to about age 15.

The 250ex is smaller and less powerful than it looks, and is better compaired to the 90ex.

It climbs in sand nicely with about 1.5 psi in the stock tires, and a rider under 140lbs.
With sandshark paddles the rider can weigh a little more.

The automagic clutch is good, but very stiff shifting for the first 10+ hours of running.

The only maint is to change the oil every other outing, and it's an easy, 5 minute, 1.8 qt job.

We bought it new for $3800 out the door.
The dealer has the 400ex for $4500 so that either says alot for the 250ex's popularity or the 400's unpopularity. I dunno,, You make the call.

My girlfriend, and her mom both have 250ex's. They are a great bike for beginners or women who aren't looking to get too crazy. My girl friend has no problems getting where ever she wants to go at pismo, but she's only 105lbs. I highly reccomend them for women or kids but if you're a full size guy, you're gonna need to step up.

That '87 has a clutch Mark. He was looking at the EX because his wife cant ride a clutched bike.

Thanks for the info. I picked one up from them today for a little over 3700. Saved over 300 bucks from the quotes I got in San Diego.
