I read in the DIRT WHEELS mag that kawasaki is making a v-twin 700cc quad. Do you guys think its going to be a big hit?

No because it weighs like 500 pounds, is shaft driven and i think it is an automatic. It is more like a farm quad than a sport quad.

Stated to be a real tank at 520 lbs according to ATV Sport Mag.
I can't believe they're releasing it as a sport quad unless it has some unbelieveable horsepower.
I hope were all proved wrong and it's a good ride, I mean for the good of the sport at least,, but,, 1/4 ton???

If you know anything about automatic gearboxes and the V-twin motor this thing comes from, it will be a Glamis hill shooters dream bike with the proper mods.
Look for that bike to embarrass ALOT of 2 and 4 Strokes at the hill. Now, I didn't say it would be a great dune bike, but it does only weigh 20lbs more than a DS650.
It does seem kinda utility like, but you will see some very quick hill shooters by this time next year on that quad, I guarantee it.

It's technically not an automatic...well, I guess it is. It's a CVT, which means it has an infinite number of gear ratios between the bottom and the top. Using a CVT, you can stay right in the meat of the powerband the whole time--the revs don't even have to change.

Take shifting out of hill shooting, and even I might win once in a while!

If all you want to do is race up a hill it might be ok. But at 520lbs it's to heavy to be a good duner.
Light and fast is were it's at in the dunes.
