Hey, Loud Dirtbike/ATV Guy…
The Sierra Club Thanks You!

Everyday, we try hard to get your off-road vehicle banned. We want your riding area closed, and we want you busted for trespassing.

Luckily, YOU are your own worst enemy – you play right into our hands!

Your unnecessarily loud bike/ATV annoys the general population – the everyday, voting folks who ordinarily wouldn’t listen to leftists like us. But, after they hear your 100db exhaust note, they’re happy to hear why your riding spots should be locked up as “designated wilderness areas”. And we’re happy to tell them. The best part is…you don’t even need the extra power that $800 pipe provides!

Running loud, closed course exhaust systems is our favorite dumb thing that you do. But there are other ways you can help us kill your sport too:

-Leave trash in your own riding areas

-Don’t organize – ignore groups fighting for your right to ride, such as the Blue Ribbon Coalition, AMA, and local riding organizations

-Trespass, ride illegally, damage property, etc. Nothing makes us look better than criminal activity with your bike!

We couldn’t do it alone.
So thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.

This isnt for real unsure.gif . I got it off another forum.
But it brings up the issue of overly loud exhuasts on off road vehicles? Bikes/atv.s ect... And the attempts of the Anti Free public land use people more ammo to get our lands closed.

Any thoughts on loud pipes? 25chatter.gif

Unfortunatly, very true and accurate.
SHOCKER
I dont care how loud my bike is they can kiss my arse, my alba pipe is like 102db's and i love it and i dont think its really that loud, and it didnt cost no $800, theres only a few pipes out there that cost $600 and those are the custom carbon fiber ones but mine only cost around $400

I think you're missing the point... rolleyes.gif

Well, regardless of attitude, the word is out that the sound restrictions are going to be heavily enforced next season.

Spark arrestors were starting to be enforced at the end of last season and they will also be heavily enforced next season.

It's like the fart pipes on rice burners. Just to be loud.
My friend has an Alba pipe on his Raptor. One of the loudest 4 strokes I've heard.
I was just thinking about this the other day. We were riding around Boulevard. Private property all over and houses here and there. No one seems to mind the riding as long as you keep dust down in front of their house on don't shake their windows with a loud pipe.

Loud pipes save lives. icon_wink.gif Don't the greenies whine about not hearing us coming as we fly over the dunes and almost land on them while they're doing they're 30 mile hikes? rolleyes.gif

Honestly, I can understand the loud pipe issue if you're riding down your street or in an area with housing all around. In the dunes people don't go out there to sit and relax in silence.

I understand the trash issue too.

I'm curious... How many residents at Glamis have actually complained about the noise? How many residents at Glamis are there? If my car was 200db, how many residents at glamis would hear it?
Also, what is the exact number of fires caused by improper or missing spark-arrestors at Glamis?

oh yea. Who gives a sh** about loud pipes or asparks in Glamis. Rubber has a hard enough time starting a fire with 5 gallons of premix!
Permagrin
I agree with the sentiment of the noise at glamis where there is no chance of people complaining" Unless some knuckleheads want to warm a banshee up next to my rig at 5:AM! "

But its more as a whole. I just don't ride at G and I know the looks I get when I used to scream by a residence off of a trail on my loud bike.

If we don't start to concern our selfs on how we look towards the general public? You will see more land taken away for riding.

Sound limits are already in place for residential areas.

The sound issue is killing us in Michigan. Silver Lake has a 94db at 20". The only pipe passing on Banshees is stock or a FMFQ. I have a Pilot and have spent a small fortune trying to get it to pass. Have to repack it after every ride and it still is over. Have to sneak by the gate when they are testing someone else. These sound restrictions are just another tool the greenies are using on us.

Why dont they enforce them to those loud ass harleys that come roaring down the street?? Not that I mind the noise. icon_biggrin.gif

We need more people like you to speak up

The wild West is becoming closed up like the East!

In some areas of Wisconsin they have made any aftermarket pipe illegal. Stock pipes only. So even if your aftermarket pipe passes the db levels and is spark arrested you can (and do) still get a ticket.

This law was passed in only 6 counties 2 years ago, now this year there are over 12 counties with this law. Unfortionally this is going to spread to other states. Just go back a few years at Glamis, was anyone talking about sound levels or spark arrestors? Now look.

Michigan started warning us 7 or 8 years ago that it was coming. All the off-road people just laughed at it. Now Michigan is one of the tuffest in the country. Just make sure to watch laws being passed on sound.

Because Harley owners have fought back. Harley don't take no crap off of no one.
No one gives a crap about an OHV owner. Just like the smokers, they can (and do) get away with totally trampling on our rights.
