Stock Rhino would have a blast out there. There's still room for more racers in the UTV class. sraptor.gif

Nobody can accuse Larry of being shy on the throttle. He never let off until he landed back on all 4 and the load of the vehicle and grip of the tires met. Something had to give, right. He sheared off all the studs on the right front tire.

That first pic is one of my favorite action shots I have taken. Here s one from the race day, going down Back Door this time...

Wouldn't miss it! I guess you could say I'm kind of an OG over at Pirate 4x4 and I've worked a checkpoint since the inagural race (wasn't advertised) and it's a rip snortin good time. I'll probably get out there on Tuesday, wheel on Wed and Thursday, then man the checkpoint on Friday. Course is shorter this year but 2 laps so it should make for good spectating. Gonna be busy out there and hammertown will be impressive I'm sure.. Can't wait!

Is there an over view map that shows where they start and the course they follow----Are there any points you would recommend to newbies to use for spectating that might be a little better than others------That place is huge, (like 64,000 acres)-----Do they stage at Boone or Besimer Mine entrance----Also best place to camp----Thanks

www.kingofthehammers.com is the website to the latest and greatest PR, Maps & Info. Events go on all week long with LCQ starting on Tues, UTV Race on Thurs & the main event on Fri. "Hammertown" and all of the activites are off Boone Rd in the dry lake bed. Best bet for camping is prior to the bridge, the rest of the area is for racers, pit crew, helpers, media, etc...

I attached the map for you. Hope to see you out there.

I'll definitely be there. Last year was my first time and it was amazing. I come from a desert racing background so watching these guys "race" up the rocks was something that left me nearly speechless. Can't wait to go again this year.

Post #23---Open that map up---For the rockclimbing part there are 2 designated spectator areas marked in green---The Backdoor and The Trapdoor-----I was out there today watching them pre-run---The Backdoor is uphill and pretty vertical---The Trapdoor is downhill and pretty dicey----It will open tomorrow, (although there are several hundred campers out there now)----They'll ask you for a $10 donation when you pull in on Boone Rd and give you a packet of info---Parking is self explanitory as you proceed down Boone Rd.----You can park on the lake bed or pretty much anywhere you want so long as you stay out of the way of the little Hammertown area where all the white tents are---Weather today was beautiful.

We are coming out on Friday the 11th.
WHAT'S NEXT?
I was out there last night to drop off some gear for a race team and it is already filling up. They really went all out in "Hammer town" this year, everything is sectioned off with street names of some of the sponsors. It should be a great production! Just a side note-----There were tons of CHP on the roads out so be carefull and follow the speed limits!!! beer.gif

UTV race runs the same course as the big cars but cuts some of the crazier parts out. Start and finish are the same as Fridays race in Hammer Town.

Watch a few cars today running Back Door.

Way cool!!!
UTV Mayhem
