SANDSPANKER
I'd like get a few more pony's out of my raptor. But can't bring myself to buy a pipe they're tooooo loud for where I ride ( OREGON ). It would only cost more $$$$$$$$$$$$ every time I got checked. So my question is there any other ways to get some POWER out of my quad with out running the risk of getting a 100.00 ticket for noise? [BigCry] [Mad] Thank you for the help.

Easy,
Vote those Commie loosers who passed those restrictive noise regulations out of office.

Thats funny! I've been told that you can fight the ticket but knowing my luck the judge will have a house next to the dunes or something like that it sucks!!!!!!!!!!! [Grenade]

Even the "quiet" aftermarket pipes are too loud to meet noise restrictions. You can go the airbox route of drilling holes in your airbox and adding a better flowing ail filter but that will give you barely noticable results. The next step is motor work and that is never cheap. How fast do you want to go?

Put a Banshee motor in it!!! hehe

Ok, seriously, You bought the bike, knowing about the sound law but never rode one prior to buying right? Haven't we all. Now you want MOre POwer ARRR ARRR ARRR..... A Catch 22. First thing is make it "breath" as well as you can ie: filter/airbox mods. then check out Supertrapp mufflers. A buddy of mine ran one on his wifes 300ex and it had a nice "mellow" tone. Plus you can add or delete discs to "tune" How about regearing? That can make a big difference if your looking for more power in a certain powerband. Next, cheap horsepower trick NOS! Next tear down the motor and bore it. It just depends. Like I said before its a Catch 22.

It goes great now but might want to do something in the future. I'm not a racer just like to ride, I'm a big guy and sometimes I wish I had a few more pony's is all. I think everyone has had that feeling! I do like the power of the 660 though it will climb anything that I've ran acrossed at the Oregon dunes that saying alot with my fat @ss on it.

A high compression piston will be fairly cheap in the short run and provide noticable power gains. This will force you to use "race" gas though which is double the price of pump gas. A new set of cams and a big valve kit will also give you more power but jetting the bike in can be a hassle. Finally, a bored cylinder and larger piston will increase the displacement and give you more torque. Many reputable shops have complete kits the can bump the displacement 100cc's or more complete with cams, piston, bore, and all other necessary components to make your bike run hard. These get expensive though. I would go with the a new piston, either stock bore and high comprssion or a larger bore and high compression. That should give you more thump.
SHOCKER
If you bore it alot you will hafe to get a bigger transmission and stronger crankshaft. You can also get some smaller items like a reed or air filter.

A reed inducted 4-stroke... Learn something new every day. [Wink]

Do a GYTR slip-on silencer (meets sound at Oregon dunes), K&N jet kit, and Pro Design foam filter intake. This will make a very nice difference in your Raptor. You could then do a Hot Cams stage 1 cam using the factory springs and valve train and leave the factory piston in.

Just my thoughts...
