Does anyone know what is the best pipe and silencer to put on my new 400EX? I was told Big Guns and change the main jet up 2. This will keep the power band. I love the bike, it just needs a little more power. Will this help??

Also, has anyone used the new Gecko Paddles? Should I get them for the 400EX? Are Razors good tires to put on the front for regular dunning??

Thank for all your help!

I would go with White Bros E- series They will recomend which jet size to go up. Geckos are great tires run about 3-4 lbs of air in them and have fun. The front tires you might not need, I don't use them on my Raptor just a thought. [Burnout]

Last I checked, Simi Honda/Sea Doo/ATK has an ignition module that increases HP on the 400 noticeably. At least that's what they told me when they tried to sell me a 400. I bought the 250ex for my son instead, money well spent.

$17. If you inquire, ask for Joeseph in sales, or one of the more experienced parts employees.
Supposed to make quite a big difference. Some on this board have called it a 49 state ignition,, but I don't remember what the dealer called it.

I bet it's just the little box that lets it rev a little higher. The difference is less than dramatic. [Frown] Believe me, anything that appreciably increases 400EX HP for low bucks would be very well known!

I was out at Glamis last weekend and I blew my top end so I was riding some of my family and friends bikes mostly 400EX's. From a completely stock one to one that had the DMC full exhaust system and an aftermarket rev limiter and the other one had the Yoshimura full exhaust system and also the aftermarket rev limiter.... The bike with Yoshimura exhaust had a noticable difference in power. It was faster up the hill also and we were switching riders around also!

One more question since all of you are so helpful.

I am getting 2inch extended A-Arms (Amstar)Chrome) for the 400EX. I am getting the Works Shocks (Front & Rear) and Steel braided brake lines. Are these all good products? They come highly recommended.

Thanks....

Do Renthal bars make any difference?? I don't like the Honda factory ones very much.

One more, sorry... Is a Rev Kit a safe thing to add to my 400EX?

Does anyone know if Honda is coming out with a new Quad within the next year or so??

Thanks again!!!

the rev kit is safe as long as you don't keep it pinned WOT all the time. When I had my 400 I didn't notice much of a difference until the mods. I had a WB e series pipe and a DMC pipe and would recommend the DMC over the 2 or the Big Gun. Leave the inside of the engine alone for the money you'll spend on that you won't notice that much of a difference. Do the suspension you were talking about and maybe revalve the rear shock, pipe it, pull off the airbox lid slap on a K&N with outer bump up the jets to about a 160 to 165 maybe think about a bigger carb and it'll wake it up alot!! LOL

I have a 99 400ex and you pretty much described it. I have +2 a arms, steel braided lines, +4 axle, Works triple w/ rezzie, a rear re-valve and spring, DMC pipe, K&N, Dynojet kit with a 160 main, and Renthals. It runs very good, is it the fastest thing out there...no, but with the suspension mods I've done, I can definately ride better/faster over the same terrain. Getting the suspension mods will allow you to ride to the full extent of the motor. Just my 2 cents anyway...ymmv

With that said, I will probably open up my motor after this season. Maybe a 416...not sure yet.

Want to learn a lot about your 400? Go to www.exriders.com . Lots of info there. Search for threads titled "free mods" or "Gabe's pipe mods" . I have about $35.00 invested in the mods on mine and am happy. HRC cam from Service Honda is next.
