Curious if anybody has had experience with a Sand type ( Mohawk etc.) tire on the front of their three wheeler.
Not sure if I should stick with a knobby or go with the mohawk or shark fin possibly
this is on a 250R btw
Thanks
Sincerely
yours truly
best regards

I used to run a shaved tire in the front and v tracks in the back...it really helped with sliding better.....
SHOCKER

I have seen pics of mowhawks and smoothies on the fronts of them, i to wondered how good these would work, i think the smoothie wouldnt grab very good but i think the mowhawk would actually work pretty good, but dont go on my word i dont have a 3-wheeler to test it on

You mean with no tread at all on the front?
I have seen those.... didn't know how they would handle
I don't steer much with the front anyway.
Was looking at one with a single fin or grove looking deal
the ones on our quads turn almost too well.
That would be dangerous on a three wheeler .....

I have the mohawk on my wheeler, do not notice much difference from the knobby. I ride my brothers with the knobby all the time and do not really notice a difference jumping from bike to bike. I would go knobby that way you do not have to change tires if you ride on the dirt.
I steer with the rear anyway, the front tire is hardly on the ground

yea.... I just thought it would look cool with the mohawk...
Kinda like the idea of the smoothy though..... decisions decisions
What pipe you got James?
I think I'm gonna get the FMF fatty ..... cause it looks cool
And its easily attained... Chaparral
Might as well get the turbine II sparky silencer too keep the feds from having anything to say.
Thought about Paul Turner but where in the He** do you buy em???
Ah beans I should just buy another quad
Then what??? Quadhombre?....quatroamigo?
No, I'm afraid I must stay with the trusty stead to the end
SHOCKER

Those guys always seem to be at the top of the price spectrum...
Quality stuff yes... but hey its a 86' wheeler with a 42 year old moofer on it how great does it have to be?
Thanks though Shocker I will check pricing from them...
Actually I saw a dinochart on pipes and the turner , Fatty ....and one more I can't remember..High Rev something or other were all about equal.
So I guess its just what you prefer....
Me, I prefer not looking at the stock pipe anymore

Go with the smoothie up front. Not sure if they still make them but my dad used to have a smoothie on his old 250r. It wasn't shaved. It was smooth like smoothies for a rail.

Haven't seen one since. I've seen shaved tires.

Tres, call around to bike shops and see who carries the Turner pipes. I got mine for $259 for just the pipe and about $110 for the silencer. This was the cheapest I could find, I got it from Santee Motorcycles. The chrome on mine still looks brand new, the FMF pipes fade pretty fast.
That said, the Turner hi-rev pipe I have revs fast. The powerband is real snappy. On my brothers wheeler with the FMF fatty, the powerband is smooth. Depends on what your riding style is as to what pipe you may want.

Posting this for Dmax:
He has the mohawk on his 250r. He likes it but it doesn't make a huge difference. And it is a PITA if you do any dirt riding like RRon3 said.
Looks cool though.

But my bike already beats your bike ..... I just want it to look cool!
Geez I hope this aftermarket pipe doesn't slow my bike down like yours.
Ok ....Ok I'll look into the turner
Thanks nik ... I guess it really doesnt matter whats in the front cause like James said the front tire ain't on the ground that much anyway

hey tres, chris's brothers bike has a douglas wheel with a mohawk on it. i couldnt tell any difference (other than the tire and wheel are lighter) in the sand with the mohawk versus knobbie, but it looks alot better. he also has the fmf fatty on it, and i love how that pipe makes that bike run. i'll try and get some pics of it for ya.

the smooth front tire is extremely noticable when running dunes sideways. You can turn up into the hill and the front does not want to dig, giving that tippy feeling...it just slides and floats.....I loved having the smooth front tire....it was so much better in the sand........
