Hey I just got a bone stock 2003 Raptor the other day so now I have a few questions!

What are some good accessory sites to check out?

Also what are the rest of you Raptor folks doing for paddles.....how big, paddle count and so on?

First of all congrats for buying the Raptor I'm sure you'll have a blast with it. I run 8 paddle haulers on my 01 raptor, when they get worn out I might buy the Paddle monsters or the gecko's. Check out ALBA they have aton of stuff for the raptor. Cascade Inc. is another one that has a few items. Rocky Mountain ATV has a fist full of stuff also. Just use the WonderfulWideWeb. Also drop at least one tooth on the front this will help with some low end grunt. [Burnout]

Especially if you wanted to slow down so others could catch you.(ha ha)The only unique quad Honda makes in sport is the 250EX.Try Ebay for Raptor accessories.Last time I checked there were 6 pages of items.

Get the Geckos and the Rocky Mountain ATV catalog.

Congrat's.... I use the Skat-Trak "Edges", they slide real nice & with our bikes being a bit top heavy it's a good thing. If you want to drag race, then get the Haulers.

I bought my bike from Alba, have since put on A-Arms, wider axle, Shocks, etc. They have a pretty good selection of "stuff".

You should go down 1 tooth on the front & maybe up 1 in the back.

Get Skat Trak 8 paddle Haulers, they turn fine and offer the best traction and floation. Second would be the Skat Trak Edges. Try the 21x11x8 8 paddle version.

Gecko's are OK, but are NO WHERE near the sand tire of the Skat Traks. I have both the Geckos and Haulers on my wifes Z400 and the Haulers are hands down better for the dunes.

My Raptor runs 22x11x8 - 10 paddle Haulers, but that is for bigger HP bikes.

just get the paddels don't spend money to fix something that isn't broke give it some time to figure out what YOU don't like then fix thoose things . i mean why spend $1000 on shocks when the stock one would be fine for you .and when looking at bumpers think about the lights some of them realy suck they just shine the light back in your face .

I bought the 21 10 10 Haulers from RockyMountain! Thats what I use on my Wheeler so I know they are a good product.
Also I found a Pro Circuit T-4 exhuast for $159.00. Which is a pretty good deal.
It was listed in Rocky Mountains scratch and dent section. Hopefully it's not to banged up.
Is jetting these beasts as hard as everyone makes it out to be? I'm sure I'll need to fatt'n it up a bit.

Buy the K&N jet kit that is for a piped Raptor because you will want to use the needle in that kit. You should be able to get it spot-on rather quickly. The design of the 5 valve head on the Raptor and the way it flows, it crys for air, so make sure you also get an intake. My preference is the Trinity set-up and if that is not in stock then get a Pro Design foam filter version.

This will really wake up the bike and if you need some help while at Glamis, my friends and I are more than willing to be of assistance in making sure it is tuned properly. I am shocked how many poor tuned Raptors and even Banshee's there are running around the dunes. Believe it or not my wifes piped, jetted, air box modded Z400 beat 75% of the Raptors at Comp on Friday night of Halloween weekend, so getting it dialed in is the hot ticket.

I went to Trinity and found This Jetting Guide. It says to use the stock needle until you get into the big bore kits even if you use the K & N fliter and air box mods......It also says to use a 165 left main and a 170 right main but to leave the pilots stock and use #4 needle clip position. I'm asuming they know what they are taliking about.
Are the needle positions numbered on a stock needle?

Try airing down your stock Dunlops to about 1.5 psi to just under 2 psi. Great results, great steering and ride quality.

If you buy paddles, I'll be glad to buy your stocks Dunlops from you.

When you get the carbs off the needle position will be self explanatory to you. Yes, the Raptor uses a staggered jetting arrangement because of the intake valves on the head. A 165/170 (those are factory keihin jets, the K&N kit uses a different number series) combo will get you close with the air box lid on and the snorkel removed, but with the air box lid off and a Pro Design or Trinity intake you will probably need to go 175/180 to get it spot on.

Tighten the rear skid plate fastners frequently or you'll loose the plate. New fasteners are about 15 bucks for the set, and a new plate os $106 so tightening them every other outing will save you headaches.

It's the only problem I've had with my '02.

I just put my pipe on and it seems to do fine without rejetting. I'm sure once I get the new air filter set up I'll need to go up a size or two.

By the way, stop by Dumont and try it out on the Wall.

The wall is Dumonts comp hill and is 4 times taller that Glamis' comp. It'll climb it with ease stock and with stock tires. Check the walls face for whoops (mogils) and avoid those pathways up and down.

Goose your throttle on the way down and do whats called a "Bomb Drop"; 70 mph down hill wheelies.You'll feel weightless and floating free.
The Raptor has great landing gear.

Oh yea let me add,, My Raptor friends and I have to add about a half quart of oil to the reservoir every other day of hard rideing. Run the engine a few minutes before ya check it, and we use Yamalube 20/40 because it's the only oil with "non friction modified" (for wet clutch systems like the Raptor) clearly written on the container. If you use the wrong stuff your clutch will slip and wearout like crazy..
