We'll be buying quads for our children in the near future. We have 2 children, a 9 yo boy and a 13 yo girl.

The boy is easy, a Mini Raptor, Honda 90, or LT80 will be fine for him. Our daghter on the other hand. She seems a bit big for those bikes. She has ridden Jake's (Ta2grrl's son) LT80, a friends Mini Raptor & a Honda 250 EX.

The LT80 & Raptor were a bit slow. Her ability is nowhere near the skill level needed for the 250. We went riding at El Mirage a few weeks ago, she crashed on the 250 twice (no injuries), couldn't handle the power. The 2nd time, the bike was on it's side, I told her to pick it up, it was too heavy.

Any ideas on a bike that would work for her? I figure in a year or so, she will be ready for a bigger bike.

Thanks for the help!

Hey man. How does a blaster sound? It's lighter than a 250ex, re-designed this year so the styling is fresh, and they are low maintainance aside from keeping the air filter clean. The blster actually has more power than the 250ex which might be a problem for you. I've known several girls your daughters age that ride the dog snot out of em though with no problems after they learned to only push their thumb out a little instead of alot.

Yes, definately a Blaster, if the girl can't handle the power of a Honda, get her a Yamaha!!! lol

My wife has one and they are cool.
SHOCKER
What power? [Disturbed] Hondas got none. [Burnout] Get her a Banshee. [Wink] I personaly would go with the Blaster. Its great to learn to use a clutch. Unlike the 250ex with no clutch. [Angry Fire] Its not my decision so pick what you want just keep the Blaster on the top of your list. [Grenade]

If she is intimidated by the bigger quads then look at the Yamaha breeze. It's right in between the 250 and the 80cc quads and she might like that one best... [Burnout]

Putting the power range aside, it's what ever she is most comfortable with. you don't want it to be a waste of money if she doesn't enjoy riding it. let her ck out a few and see which best suits her...

Blaster is fully manual 6-speed trans; I'd suggest the Breeze. My ex learned to ride on a Breeze at age 28; my stepson learned on a Breeze at age 10.

You could just get her a blaster or a 250ex and turn the govner in so she would not get full throttle. Then when she is used to the power then turn it out. This way you will not have to buy her a quad for year or two and have to buy her another one later.

I started my daughter on a Breeze.Excellent quad for a novice. Now she drives a 250EX and loves the extra power.I am selling the 1998 Breeze if you are interested?????????????Its in great condition.

Mr. Dune,

It is not her that is uncomfortable with the power. I just don't want to end up on the news like those parents that have their kids riding Adult Quads. I want her to become a good rider before I give her something with a lot of power.

The Breeze might be the way to go.

What about an LT160?

I'll second the breeze as well. I completly forgot about that little bike. DocChase dunes his daughters. They go everywhere for the most part. It's a great bike with the four stroke powerband that doesn't have the "hit" of the blaster.
