o ring chain or not in the sand ???????????????
Fireballsocal
Yes! Non o-ring will have slightly less rolling resistance and be slightly lighter but unless you are racing, you will never need the difference. The downside is that the chain will wear very fast if you don't lube it every ride. An o-ring chain can be lubed less often and still survive.

Bought the top of the line Non O-ring chain for the Banshee years ago from Krause Racing lasted 3 trips and needed to be adjusted after every ride....... Then bought the cheapest O-ring chain I could find to replace the high $$$ chain that I was told would last just about forever... That chain lasted two seasons..............

Never buy anything but a O-Ring Chain.

O-ring - yes.

O-ring with light lube, the o ring chain has grease inside. I use silicone lube to keep the o-rings lubed yet keep the sand from sticking to it as much. beer.gif

top of the line or don't get one at all...replace your sprockets also.

I have to agree with this too.

Late model large bore quads come with a pretty good OEM O-Ring chain, I would go with another one of those if it was an option. Will last a few years with many trips to the sand.

But, since I just 'upgraded' to an 88 Quadzilla 500 with a 'built' engine, I wanted/needed something that can handle some power, be low maintenance, and last years. I went with the top of the line stuff from Krause Racing "Sidewinder". I have their Titanium II front and rear sprockets along with their 16k Smart Chain II.

This should be the last set of sprockets & chain I should need. High dollar yes, but very high quality. I've run this setup about a 6 months now and have not had to adjust the brand new chain since installing it last July.

P.S. Don't ever get aluminum sprockets or you will be changing those several times a season.

Good Luck,
Larry

Try touching a chain after a hard run. Amazing how hot they get.
