Special props to Don at SCU. He met me Friday evening (I live in Laguna Hills, his shop is in Fullerton) so I didn't have to fight any traffic. Got the following done..

New bushings/bolts for the rear trailing arms (I better remember to tighten after a run)
New brakes (mine were shot)
4 new CVs (probably the first time they were replaced. I have the old ones in my toy box if someone needs an emergency set in G, hit me up)
1 new CV axle (no more full throttle 1st gear, dead-stop clutch dumps - retarded)
New Halon fire system (1 nozzle on the engine/tranny and 1 pointing between the shoulders of the 2 rear passengers shooting into the passenger compartment). Don buttoned it up nice behind my parker pumper's bell housing. He put the activation deal at the base of my shifter so either the driver or front passenger can engage it (sure hope we never have to).

Then, .... I cleaned my ATVs. The Raptor is a one-eyed beast since my Silverwood crash, but fine otherwise. Even Armor-alled the tires on the buggy, waxed her. .. Saved the peice of the CV axle that sent me to Brawley ER for 5 stitches as yet another in my set of growing busted parts trophy pile. I wrapped it in a towel and was pretty scared to even handle it..

What about you, are you set for Presidents?

See you out there.

The fire suppression system is next on my list.

The fire suppression system is a great addition!

Yup yup yup... Anytime I have passengers (especially my kids), I always have them strapped in with the wrist straps (hand cuffs), helmets and neck braces. .. add the intercom cord and parker pumper tube and it is likely that they couldn't get all unhooked in the event of a gas fire/crash.

Best $$ I ever spent (saftey wise).

LOL.. didn't notice the tricycle in the picture. .. It's completely dune ready but someone already grabbed it.

I'm sure we'll see someone doing a carless wheelie on it .. going down hill, etc. sraptor.gif

True dat.. but since I'm rarely riding the quad (in Glamis).. think I'm going to sell the Baja 5b, my spare camp time I should be tightening/checking bolts, changing oil or polishing the SCU anyhow.

I love the fire supression system, I'm just not sold on pointing it towards the passenger compartment. Halon is designed to suck the oxygen out of the air. No oxygen=no fire. Also, no oxygen=no breathing???

Lookin' good!
I should be ready, finally! Trans fixed and installed along with motor, seat fixed, shifter in, cleaned up some wiring, and misc little stuff.

Cya there!

I thought that as well, but the instructions said to have it in there. I guess hold your breath?.. someone told me that after being involved in a Halon disbersment the folks will have a 'cough' for about a week.

Better than being torched IMO. Burns suck.

i applaud you for thinkking of safety when MOST people dont.

is Halon what race cars use? i had a halon fire extinguisher go off in a gangbox and when we opened it it was hard to breathe just with a light dusting. with a nozzle right at the kids it might do more harm than good. i would point it to the engine compartment or major electrical location instead. but thats just me talking.

I think there's a shot of where the passenger compartment nozzle is.. it actually points in and down from the fuel cell. It's pretty much aimed from the back towards the center/gear shifter area. You can see the nozzle at the top of this photo. It's hard to get an idea of the angle, but I like where it's pointed.

I hope I never find out.

Way cool of Don to work at your door step. Fire suppression is a great idea. Beats the old fire extinguisher strapped under the seat.
See ya out there ABC. beer.gif
