Hey guys, hava question. The starter on my '01 Raptor seems to be on its way out. It makes a loud scraping sound when the starter button is released and it dosen't fire up. After this the starter just spins making a winding sound. Anyone else experience this crap????

Like the tranny on the '01's,, Yamaha may warranty the starter even if it's expired.
It sounds like it may be the starter,, it's known to happen on the '01's.

Ive got an 01 and nothing has been wrong with the starter on the raptor btu go get it looked at they will stil warentee it i bet!

Yes, My 01 was just fixed for this problem (it went out on Halloween Weekend)

Did you purchase extended Warranty? (I did first time ever, and I used it to fix this)

I asked about Yamaha acknowledging this and the gear problems on 01's as a factory Warranty and he said Yamaha doesnt! (But he was aware of the starter and the Gears issues on the 01's)

but I would suggest calling Yamaha Direct

FYI: (I saw the quote to the Warranty place and it was like 112.50) (worst case I was quoted was 300.00)

Also if ya rock it back and forth in gear it will start

A funny thing is I was looking back at these days we would flame back and forth and still LMAO at all of it. As for a "fair" race anytime, JR.
