THE CHICKEN
Hey all, while I don't know for sure yet, it kinda looks like my DirectTV might have gone ( @ Y @ ) up.

Now I can't complain, my reciever and dish are at least 6 years old. And I have no complaints with DirectTv-I am very happy with how it works.

The issue is this-it is getting expensive. I watch maybe 3-4 hours of TV a week. I nearly always watch Discovery, History or Nat Geo, with some occiasional Military Channel or some such here and there. The only network tv I have watched in the last like 4 years is the SuperBowl a couple of times. No movie channels, basic package is around 80 bucks. That seems like a lot to me right now.

I remember someone on here posting about some web-based tv thingy and they loved it. I can't remember what it was called.

Is anyone else using this or something similar?
How does it compare to DirectTv?
Quality?
Content availibity?
Fast-forward through commericals?
Anything to add?

Thanks in advance for all the help!

Come now, all my tech-informed GD.Com peeps. I need your help! I am missing Sons of Guns, Dirty Jobs, Pawn Stars, and lots of other cool stuff.

I am also really tweaked that I had actually managed to record the Mint 400, but have not been able to watch it, and still can't because my DVR now won't let me!

Have used them in the past-hulu and web tv both. Think there is also one called blinkx. Cliche, I know, but google is your friend. I do not watch tv at all anymore-been about 2 years now. Oh, except when I stay for an extended period in AZ with the p's and HGTV sucks me in....lol icon_wink.gif
Seriously, for the amount you watch compared to the amount you spend I'd deal with not being able to see the "most" current or if there is a bit of a quality loss but that's me. Google whatever it is you're looking for, i.e "full episodes of xxxxx online" and see what you come up with.

Web based TV is killing DVD sales and to a large degree, DirecTV too..

Hulu offers a premium delivery for 7 or 8 bucks a month.

Netflix has an "All you can Watch" for the same..

All web based.. Dial up suck for these.. laughing.gif

I like http://www.veetle.com/ I've watched alot of current New Releases there.
This place http://www.free-tv-video-online.me/ will trick you and it will seem like it's a bad site.. (It isn't)
You really have to pay attention to what play button (arrow) you press.
If you press the wrong one you will know, because it will go to another site and want you to download something.
All new releases.....

Few others..
