What sprocket sizes are the best in the dunes on a '93 CR500 with a 10 paddle?

Run stock then see if you need to change from there. Gearing is very subjective with preferences varying between each rider. I like taller gearing as I tend to run in the higher gears and will top out fifth gear with stock gearing. I tend to switch out the 14T up front with a 15 and it gets me close. Other riders will drop a tooth so they can launch in second gear at the hill. The 500s make enough torque that you should have no problem with stock gearing though.

Thanks, I wanted a little more speed, so I put on a 15t front and will see how I like it.

Cool. Let me know what you think.

with the Wide ratio trans i ran 15 47-49 depending on the weekend and how i felt i wanted to ride. My bike came with a 15-45 setup and i could outrun damn near anything with that combination.. would just take a minute to get there :P When i went with the early model short ratio trans i ran 15-49 and that was just about perfect for my duning style however 15-47 would have given me that top speed i was after but would have required a little more shifting on my part. I was getting lazy and wanted to basicaly blast around in 4th and 5th and that was abou the pace we ride so it was good enough for me icon_biggrin.gif However when i went with the short ratio trans i was also running a 12 cup viper.
