I have always shot at the county line. Even had rangers pull up, and I was told in the past its ok at the county line as long as its imperial county and not SD county.
Has anything changed or is this now illegal? Its been a few years.

Not sure, but I'm looking into this as well. I'm going to see if the El Centro BLM office has maps or can tell me exactly where is legal to shoot.

I've got two guns that I haven't even shot yet, and that's just wrong.

When are you going?

What we normally do, which was told by the rangers, is just head south and cross the tracks. Shoot into the mountain side.

I take Split Mountain Rd. south then head east at the tracks and go from there.

Just make sure the bullet holes go front to back and you're good to go.

We go out there all the time to shoot.
Like mentioned above, just go down along the tracks a mile or so.

Becasue it's a State Park, it should be easy to look up. Even if it is 100% legal, I'd still stay far away from prying eyes and ears. Even legal shooting can get harrassment from Law Enforcement.

When you say south, you mean from the 78, yes?

Go down split mountain rd off the 78 until it pretty much ends at the tracks.
Make a left and drive along the side of the tracks. Go down 1-2 miles.

this is a good place to shoot. Set up your shooting area south of the tracks. The mountain is the back drop.

As far as shooting inside OW, I don't believe it's legal as it's a state park, regardless of which side of the county line you are on. With that noted, there are areas of private property south of Pole Line Rd, that are within the park.

Anything south of highway 78 is private property or BLM land (it's not part of the OW state park), which is the area Chili3 is referring too. Supersition Mountain OHV is BLM land too, that is why it's perfectly legal to shoot there.

I am heading out in a few weeks. Maybe we shoul organize a GD.com group or would that just get to dangerous ha ha

I spoke with the rangers and they said you cannot shoot in the OHV park but its BLM land past county line South of the 78.
They said that should be ok, and that is where I have shot in the past.
I then spoke with the BLM and they said there is no shooting allowed due to fire hazards. I asked them if that means this particular area and the BLM
said other areas are closed due to fire hazards. I then said "so this ares is ok" and they said , "well you shouldnt due to fire hazards" so without beating a dead horse I said thank you for the info and I left the conversation that it is ok to shoot in the mentioned area but it is discouraged by the BLM.

So when should we head out??
Also thinking about doing a day of shooting out at Parker if anyone is going to be there.
