I had an LE in utah tell me it was a fed law..??? I've never actually read it..guess its a good idea

I was goning down the hiway in cal, came up on a road block an they handed me a shovel

told me (not asked me) to take it and shovel dirt on any hot coals I seen.... don't know if thats a law that you have to do that..

but I did it to be helpfull..

Don't know about a fire extinguisher law, but IIRC when you're offroading on federal land you have to have a shovel onboard. I can't find any specific regulation but I remember a ranger in Big Bear checking my truck for one once.
