Could the wheelbase be shortened to 100" to meet class 9 specs?
KingGlamis
Cool Grant. However, I may not be a buggy expert but the nose seems a little squared-off to me and I personally would add a few more tubes here and there. icon_wink.gif

But on a serious note, what's up with the name "Liwa Lite?" That sounds like the name of a Chinese beer. laughing.gif

Excuse me if I'm wrong as it's been over 15 years since I raced Class 9, but aren't they required to have VW-style suspension components?

Hold on the big guy.......Where are the air bags....

your not wrong they require VW suspension.I 've been going to some offroad races lately and am consideing building one or buying one. This chassis looks like it would work good and look good.

Nice!

You will be dune bashing in this l.l.
hondajimz
Not sure I would call a $40k price tag getting back to basics. I hope I am wrong and you sell a boat load of them though.
onanysunday
I have always dreamed about a killer single seater. Why not stay with the airbags? Of course the car will be pretty light as it is with coils. I would do a subie 350-400hp. Dont have to worry about torque like a 4 seater.

Got Bags?

and

Where the heck are the door cut-outs?

How about a rear A arm set up like Greg's buggy?

Liwa is the area that we dune in UAE. The first batch of these cars will go there ,hence the name.

There is a customer base there that is not ready to go into full size cars yet. They want more then a SxS or a busa. Most are still riding bikes and go solo, that is why they are single seat.

We are just not ready to take the quality out by using all the CHINA parts.

Brakes, Hubs, steering, etc etc.

If we use all that junk it will just fail. Then you will need to replace it with the right stuff anyway.

These things will be serious fun to drive.

Turbo 4 cylinders will be the ticket.

The double a arm rear is highly tuneable and valuable for racing . The complexity and primarily packaging issues don't weigh out for this application

Good Luck!
SandTrap
Can't wait to see it done..Nice job as always

Grant it's good to see some innovation in the sport - Sounds like the UAE is still a hot market and you are addressing it. I am interested in what bodywork will be? A small 40K Enzo?

I applaud the US made parts approach as well, and I drive a Ford - not a toyota so I may be biased
Crowdog
Can't wait to see it finished!
LONGTRAVLE24
Any new pic's?
liwa
Good job Grant, wait for more pic.
Brandon Long

Mmmmmm. I think i like it.
surf and dune
Now that looks like it would be a whole lot of fun!
The Goo
So far I love what I see. Cant wait to see it sitting on the ground to give me a better look. The echotec and Fortin should be bullet proof.
SANDBAM
looks light and fast tongue.gif tongue.gif just another cool idea. That's why I think funco is the leader in fab, engineering, design and development. Never resting on what has been in the past, and pushing the envelope...way to go boys!
SandTrap
NICE!!!

I want one! Can't wait to see the finished car.

I assume the lower cooler with two fans is the intercooler. What is the long middle cooler?
