I am getting ready to order new belts. What are the benefits of the Kam lock v. the traditional latch and link?

I have the Crow Cam locks, I like the easy in and out about them, but are a little pricey when you have 5 harnesses, that why I cheased and only did the front two.

I had the same Ques. I have used cam locks for a long time in other apps, but did not think they would work in the dirt for obvious reasons.

Believe these were in the Sidewinders we rode in out at Gordons a few months ago. The sand had a noticeable impact on the ease of use, think I actually liked the regular style better.

Don't you remember the song the guy gets his chick hot and couldn't get his
belts loose. (CHUCK BERRY)

I used them years ago as they were left over from my dragster and they were a pain. The sand would cause them to stick and had to take them apart every trip to get the sand out. They worked slick in the dragster but not in the sand.

I put the new Crow camlocks in my car last year, and have had zero trouble. The built in shoulder pads are nice too. .....Plus they just look clean.

I had a set of Simpson cam lock belts that I tried ONCE in a sand car. Now I don't know about all drivers and cars, but about the only time I don't get sand in my car in driving in and out of the trailer. Personally I would never use these belts in an open sand car. My greatest fear in life is fire. The cam lock belts I had became a bit difficult to release once they were exposed to sand. Just the thought of a 2-3 second delay releasing a cam lock in the event of a car fire will eliminate any possibility of me ever considering this style of belts.
But that's just my opinion.

Yeah, but that's not a fair and thorough evaluation..........being that you are always the Lead Dog! You don't ever get sand in 'em!
