Trying to figure out sand paddles for new bike....
The Originals:
Back 20 X 11 -10
Front 21 X 7 -10
Went to Chapparal and purchased:
Back Sand Skate ll 20 X 11 -10
Front Dune Trackers 22 X 8 -10
Heres the question....
When I went in to purchase I just told the guy what bike these were for...And he chose the sizes
( Bad maneuver I know)
When I got them home I set the wheels/tires up against existing to see how they would look and realized how freeking big the Dune trackers were compared to stock. ( 22 vs 21 )
I called Chapparal and the Tire Manager told me that most people prefered the bigger front tires as they floated over the sand better....
Does this sound correct? My opinion is that the front tire looks too big. Whats yours? Also Do you think I would have been better off with Straight across Haulers? Thanks...Tres

Tres I have found the combo you have for the blaster works good. I know it looks funny at first but it does steers better with the taller tires. The Sand Skate Two's might be a litte aggresive for the Blaster. How many paddles are on the tire? Six paddles seem to work the best. The haulers would be harder for a new rider to trun the bike.

I've got the 22x8x10 dune runners on my 400ex. They work fine. Keep the air around 3 psi for best floation.

The Tire configuration I am talking about would be going on a Predator 500.
The Sand Skates have 8 Paddles.
The Paddles for the Blaster are Sand Sharks ( 8 paddles ) with Shark Fins up front. The Shark fins are the same size as the stock front tires and look good.
Sand Slinger: What size rear paddles do you have on the 400EX?

tres... I've got the 21 inch dune trackers on my banshee and I wish I would have gotten the 22's. My 21's dig into soft sand too easy; you're way better off with the 22's. I tried my buddy's banshee with the bigger tires and they do float over the sand a lot better... good luck with your new bike!

Rob I would be looking at getting the haulers just because of the way the bike seams to kick out the rearend so EZ. Just like a two stroke does.
Look at the 20x10x10 or the 22x11x10 8 paddle Haulers on the rear and 21x8x10 dune trackers up front.
And by the way thats one nice looking quad you have there. I want one.

Thanks for the info....
Tom , I already bought the Sand Skates so I guess I'm gonna have to live with those for a while...
If it doesn't hook up good enough I'll go to the Haulers.... One other thing is they only make 10" rims for that bike no 8" because the bolt pattern is so large 4/156 ( same as Banshee )
Which I don't really care for cause I think you can run the 8" on lower air without spinnig the tire on the wheel but what the heck we'll find out no?

hey tres, the larger front tires will take some of the shock outta the small ruts and bumps. the sand skate 2 are very good tires and hook up really well, especially with power. in the latest dirt wheels, they feature a predator set up by darel rath, and they claim it uses honda pattern wheels and the have 8 in beadlocks on it
