I sure like my MOMO, they make a lot of different styles and colors. They
are also big on safety.

Tatum Motorsports sells an awesome wheel. I think they may have two different styles now. Check it out on there website. I have never had any trouble with mine. I know a lot of people who have them. Good luck

I mentioned it above... the Tenzo... 115 dollars or so. You can usually get them at import (ricer) shops. Decent quality... nowhere near as nice as a Momo... but doesn't cost nearly as much either.

I had a LeCarra in my old rail, I liked it, I only drove the car about 10 times and never hard before I sold it, but it was simple, think it was about $100, just wondering why nobody mentioned it before.

I have driven a Tatum with the billet/leather steering wheel and don't like it. As mentioned above, it is hard on your hands. The car I drove had power steering but the aluminum on the back of the wheel makes your hands black if you don't wear gloves, not to mention very hot after sitting at the bottom of Olds for a while. By the way, it is a street rod steering wheel that Tatum sells.
I have a Sparco steering wheel in my car, it is similar to a Momo. There are many choices including color, shape, and material.

Well I don't know about you guys, but I have never had a problem with my Tatum steering wheel. I went to the dunes more than 10 trips last season and never wished I had a different wheel. I would recomend it to anyone. Oh yeah, sometimes I wear gloves, sometimes I don't.

It doesn't matter either way for me.

Ditto! It is a nice wheel but I think there are much better wheels for the dunes. Everyone that I know that has one complains of sore hands and there are a few to many sharp edges for my liking in a sandcar. I wish the Formuling wheel was still available. Thats a nice wheel.

Gear One makes a nice wheel, all padded leather, 3 spoke.
No idea how much it costs.

Some of the fancy looking billet wheels have me wondering how safe they'd be in an accident.
I know that wheels like the Grants (and I assume the Momo's and other street legal wheels as well) are designed to collapse and absorb energy in a wreck...just as Radrat his grant did that in his wreck last year and he credits it with saving him a lot of pain and suffering.
Some of these "buggy" wheels on the market look like pretty hefty solid pieces that would probably hurt pretty bad to have rammed into your chest at the ultra-high impact speeds experienced in a crash when your body is tossed forward hard enough to stretch the belts.

I also think the billet wheels could cost you a couple of broken wrists by not collapsing when they should!

The idea of being in a crash and having the wheel stay in one piece while my forearms and wrists absorb the impact through it is not cool to me.
I want a wheel that will fold properly on impact. No all metal pieces.
Maybe junkyard salvage from an old econobucket and personally leather wrapping it.

Here is a pic of the tatum wheel i have. I can't remember the cost, but I do know that Mckenzies sells them also.

Those Tatum wheels look alot like the Billet Specialties wheel I put on my Chevelle. Is cool and all But the guys are right it's hot on the hands. Mine is coated so it wont get your hands black.

How do you determine what wheel to get that as far as fit to the hub or steering shaft goes? My Sand cars unlimted has a Grant quick release hub with a Grant Corsa wheel. If I wanted to change it, do other brands fit the grant hub? It looks like other brands like Momo use the same if not similar 5 screw mount with the hole in the middle.

I'm still going to do my first inclination and rip a nice looking wheel out of a junkyard car. That way I also know it was made to have safety standards.
