I need some trans help. I have a rancho 091 trans with all weddle everything and a Honda 3.5 stock motor. Last season I blew the R/P had it rebuilt now with only three trips on it 2nd gear is making all kind of noise. I know I do drive it hard and it’s time to upgrade but to what? Mendeola 2d if you can get one, PBS, or weddle HV-1. I also know that’s for piece of mine price should not matter but I’m not trying to go broke doing it

I went from a 2D to a Fortin 5 speed with my turbo Honda. Have had great luck with it.
It's for sale if you're interested. I want to try a sequential now. Search my topic's to find the ad.

You can get one! Call Weddle Ind. they have the XDC case in a kit.
We were out of S4's
My .02 take it back to the builder they missed something, and tell them to re-gear it.
I bet you run alot of second.
Make sure the case has gussets welded on it or you'll kill another R&P.

call the wright gear box, he has a 2D for sale right now at a good price. i have a 2D with a V8 and it has been very good to me and i like to wheelie and run the whoops every where

My case is already has the gussets on it. I do seem to be in 2nd gear more then I need to be. By the time I re-gear it and re-place the second gear shaft its going to be $1500. The last time I had the R/P it was $1500. That’s haft of the other trans. I don’t wound to keep putting money into a 091 but I hate not spending the money in the right place
lantz
Don't forget that the trans mounts and possibly engine mounts will have to be moved. Shift Linkage? Longer/shorter axles possibly? Just some other things to think about.

Yes, this is true you will have some cash in it, but once its geared the longevity of the box will increase- till the next weak link shows up.
Lantz is correct there will be more expense to change over to another gearbox.
It will be your call on the budget for the fix.
How many trips did you get before the R&P failed?

I got a lot of time out of the trans before the nut on the R&P came loose and took it out

Sounds like it works for you-just had some maintenance due.
I would find out what the noise is in second gear take it back to Rancho.
It may be a easy fix.
