Why is NASCAR the ONLY sport that has the respect to televise the National Anthem at EVERY event? They even recognize the Creator of it all by televising a pre-race prayer; we can’t even do that in schools!

Consider this: Baseball – America’s Pastime. They only televise the National Anthem for the All Star game and the World Series. Without the freedoms that America provides these owners and players would not even have the ability to make their fortunes. You would think they could respect what makes it possible.

Football – They only televise the National Anthem at the Superbowl. I would suggest the same as above.

While many may not consider NASCAR a sport, I am proud of the fact the pay respect to the Creator and the Nation that makes it all possible. If that’s redneck – I am all in and proud to be!

Patriotism should be a part of our daily lives and not just something that happens for a short period following a disaster.

If America can muster the courage to vote 500 million times for something as silly as American Idol, perhaps we can pass this around to hopefully apply a little pressure until they make it right. If we all do this, we should see the National Anthem and a prayer for ALL televised sporting events starting next week.

I think it's great that they do that, even if I don't watch it any longer.

What I do wish, is that EVERYBODY would have respect for the song and the flag like they should. I've seen the pre-race a few times this year, and not all are standing properly, hats off, hands over heart, etc. The fact they do it is great, but some, even drivers, don't pay respect they should.

Can you take care of that for us that care, please?

They even have the respect to play the Pledge and the Anthem at the La MesaCar Show - It always bugs me the the drivers who clearly see all of the poeple standing with their hand over their hearts, paying respect - drie right through the intersection. Must be Canadians...

We sing it at every event, my kids know it by heart.

Baseball has like what 120 games for each team? Football has 16 regular games + preseason x 32 teams . It gets boring on tv time to watch every single time. Especially some hack or wanna be singer who sucks singing it. They still sing at every event but it isnt always televised. Commercials pay more. If I want to see or hear it ill go to the game. Nacsar always has somewhat of a famous singer and production along with a fly over and its a grand spectacle. All these other stuff isnt worth watching and would cause me to change the channel. Just my 2 cents

I drove up, spent some time in wine country, Infineon for the race Sunday, (Main Grandstand, under the roof) slid south to Santa Cruz, and then dinner @ The Hitching Post in Beulton.. then home.

Only gone 5 days.

National Anthem? Couldn't tell you why it's not always televised - I've seen it live at the dozen or so baseball games I've been to this year.

Prayer? My guess is that since it's not illegal to not be a Christian in America, nor is it a requirement of being an American, that other sports are trying to appeal to all Americans instead of targeting one group that takes pride in excluding others who don't share the same belief. Personally it doesn't bother me, but I could understand how it could turn someone else off.

When Bush was President they really pushed it. Now with obama they dont.

That's interesting that some people would feel excluded over the flying of a flag and playing of the national anthem in the nation that the song is for. That's probably why they call it the "National Anthem" rather than just a song.

By contrast, I could watch Mexico play Brazil in a soccer match and I wouldn't feel the least bit excluded if they played the Mexican national anthem and flew the Mexican flag over the soccer field. Why not?

Because I'm not immature enough to think it was done to exclude me. It's done to show the national pride in preparation of a sporting event in that nation, and that's just fine with me. However, I don't watch soccer, because the Mexican national anthem would be the most exciting part of the entire program. Soccer sucks. The reason they get so excited when a goal is scored is because it so rarely happens. The Food network has higher ratings in the US.

I too watch alot of sports but i never change the channel nor do i turn the volume down when it is on. I simply sing along even if the person singing it isnt that great. No matter how you try to spin it ANGLEMONEY, what you said is going to offend alot of people!

I remember they would play it after every televised day would end when I was a kid. They should show it live! If you choose not to watch it, then PHU-Q!
