I've had parts on order and at the chromers
forever and finally am able to start getting it back together. This is an Arens frame that I had to have re-powdercoated because the way it came was crap! Flaking off etc etc
Had Powder 1 in El Cajon redo it and they did an awesome job in 3 days!
Got this together tonight and now have to wait on the chromer before I can do much more.

That's a great looking base! The CF guards really look trick. Whoever put the cardboard over the radiator fins was smart. Keeps the odd dink from a tool from bending a fin. You gotta get some magazine pics before you tweak the rad.

I tend to drop items sometimes and couldn't risk the radiator

How much was your chroming?? And is it very durable?? My chroming on my front a-arms/swingarm is flaking off..
Mike330R
Aug 2 2004, 10:01 PM
Still working on it:
I almost stopped at this point due to the upper shock inserts being to large for the10mm bolt. I decided to slap it together while waiting for the new inserts:
Finally able to roll it out of the garage!

My most valuable tool has been the rubber mallet. It has many uses! Tapping in parts that fit to tight, dropping it on your toe, tapping in stubborn bolts, slamming it on the work bench in fustration.....and tons more uses

Also learned that very rarely does aftermarket parts fit perfect
Chrome seems durable. I have been rough on it and it held up (dropped parts, hit metal on metal etc etc). It is much better than the last chrome job. Equality Plating in La Mesa did great prep work and that's where a good chrome job shines.

Looks great!!! My favorite tool is the dremel..
looks freakin awesome!!!!!!!!! thats going to look a lot better than i thought it was. thought of doing anything to dress up that battery box and the wiring?
where was that rubber mallet when we were looking for those sockets to take off your old swing arm.

EDIT: nice San Diego Chargers rear brake rotor.
Mike330R
Aug 3 2004, 07:44 AM
Yes the dremel was a good friend also

Used it quite a bit to scrape paint and adapt a CR rear brake rez/cylinder to this.
The battery and wiring will not show as much as it does now once I get plastic on.
where is the rear brake resivoir going to be mounted?
Mike330R
Aug 3 2004, 08:22 AM
The rez/cylinder is all one unit.
Took me forever to get it to fit right (grinding) and the linkage to work right.
Mike330R
Aug 3 2004, 09:21 AM
Shock rez mounts under the gas tank.

Aug 9 2004, 07:22 PM
Looking great, couple questions, why did ya cut the front brake lever? and have ya though of reloacating the battery behind the filter towards the rear, up in the subframe, or will it get in the way, i know people have done it on ex's for better side to side balance and looks, other wise looking great cant wait to see it finsihed

Real close now!
Just need plastic and brake lines.

Here's my rear brake set-up. Used a rez/master cylinder from a CRF.

New radiator shrouds. The flames are inserts and the main part is laser cut

Tail lights mounted where the seat latch lever would be mounted (I have a different latch that doesn't use this hole) and that is the EXTRA long silencer in the background. No effin sound tickets this season!

Got the lights mounted. The mounts are from hand guards and are kinda cheesy but they work. They are for the tappered section of the bars so that's why they look crooked

They allowed me to mount them on the bars which is what I really wanted. New Hella 200 HID's.

Stop by the Sand Addiction booth at SSSS to see the finished product!
