Rancho Cucamonga
Screamin Ian does that sort of thing. He did a re-pipe for me...reasonable price, good work, and showed up when he said he would.

Is it a 1 piece tub shower? If so it might be a built in and have to be cut up to be replaced.

Not to bad just sawzall it up. Problem is a new one usually will not fit in unless you cut open a wall. Might be easier to buy a tub and surround kit (dont like them but cost effective). Or buy a tub and spend some xtra getting it tiled up. Will be cheaper in the long run than cutting open walls to fit in a one pice.

.
Easy really , undo shower trim, drain and overflow , sawzall new 4" blade cut dry wall 6" up from tub in straight line around enclosure take off drywall pull nails holding it in . Starting from top cut down in both corners (being carfull not to hit wires or pipes) to the floor and then around the bottom . Should take all of a hour if you throw everything in trash cans or heavy duty trash bags as you go instead of making a giant pile. I would suggest putting cast iron tubs back in they go in alot easyier than fiberglass with the suround because the fiberglass ones come in two and somtimes three pieces and have a very ugly seem. Finish it off with a nice tile job or stone.

This is the way I'm going to go. I'll have the tub installed and tiled by someone who is profficient but I'll take the old one out.

Done a ton of them. Quickest way is to replace the existing one with a Sterling brand fiberglass unit. Sterling is part of kohler. 99% of the time I can be done start to finish including new drain, shower valve and drywall ready for paint in less than 2 days. I have pics if interested. Let me know if you want more info. Honestly have installed a couple hundred of them

If you are looking for fast and inexpensive then a sterling unit is the way to go. Can do those for around $1500 for everything installed. Next level would be tub then either a solid surface material or tile. Cost is close on those two. Solid surface is expensive but labor is cheap. Tile is cheap but labor is expensive. All depends on budget and what you want it for.
