So I am sick of having to spend half of my week-end wrenching on my LT250, and the other half being towed back to camp.

We all know about the Trinitys and other popular engine builders that can demand high dollar for amazing engine work, but what about those smaller, independent guys who do good work, but just don't advertise? I would like to have someone build my biKE, so it will run right, but I can't afford to give up my left arm to pay for it.

Does anybody know of a good builder or individual, in the Orange County area, who can build a good strong motor for a good reasonable price?

If you're having top-end problems, maybe you should learn to do it yourself. It's not hard at all and requires very few tools.
Q & E in Anaheim will bore/hone your cylinder and sell you a piston/rings/wrist pin/circlips. They even carry gaskets. You can do a whole top-end rebuild this way for less than $200.
If you don't want to do the work, check out Hahm Motorsports in Anaheim.

I have done the top end, several times, and that is a peice of cake.

The last time that I did the entire thing, top, and bottom end, and gears, it was my first time. I am not as happy with it as I would like to be, so this time I would rather have it done, and know that it is right, rather than guess my way through it, even with the help of the manual. and screw it up.

Jusdrmn, what seems to be the problem. You say you've done the top end several times.

Actually, I have only done the top end twice. Once when I did a complete rebuild, and once soon after because I didn't mix the gas correctly, or had the carb out of adjustment. I seized it after riding for about 5 min.

After the complete re-build there was a lot of noise. I am not sure if it is the rod/crank bearings, of if it is gear box related.

I would just like to have someone do it, and while they are at it, squeeze a little more out of it. I know that I could take it to Trinity down the street, but there has got to be other shops, or maybe even a few individuals that could work through it with me so that I could learn a few things.

I am very mechanically inclined, but the two-stroke engine is a new thing for me. I want to know why and how. I guess that I could read up on it, but I would rather have someone by my side to stop me if I am doing something wrong, so that I don't find out about it the hard, and expensive way.

Go to www.eric-gorr.com and look at what he does. He's back east but does excellent work. He does quads, bikes, shifter karts, etc. Very reasonable for a professional job. He put a big-bore/port job into my CR250, and the damn thing almost pulls my arms out of socket [Eek!] Good luck!

Give Quad Peformance a call (714) 526-2288 Talk to Mike. He does really good work, and has very reasonable pricing. Located in O.C. (Fullerton)

Edit: Just heard bad news. Mike passed away this morning. [Frown] Some more details, in Connections..

Orange County Suzuki is just as good as any to get the bike back to spec. from there you can throw on the pipes and stuff. I have an LT as well and have rebuilt it three times. I am now on a brand new stock cylinder and stock piston. As of DrewLT250 postings i am now into the jetting thing and am back to the standard jet (200).
Towing a bike back to camp is the worst feeling, but it is also a part of it. Start stock and try new things from there. You don't actually mention what your problems are, but i can add that i was getting poor performance (or so it seemed) i changed out the stator (c/0 ricky stator) and my light works and the performance got better i believe i was getting a shorting out sporadically in the stator/rotor deal. Hell it even fires up easily too.

Allen Fox in alpine does awesome work. He does a few guys engines that are on the board. He turned my top and bottom around in two days. Good price and top work.
