Anyone have problems with their lights on the 400ex? I loaned mine out for a short time this weekend, and it came back with bent bars, scratched plastic, and it kept blowing fuses. I traced it to the lights, and I had to disconnect them to keep the fuse from blowing. Anyone know how to change these without disassembling half the bike? I've ordered a service manual, but it is still on back order.
Also this weekend, my friend fried his battery, it was hot and bulging when we took it out, it also looks like both lights burned out, we disconncted the lights, installed a new battery and no problems.
Lights would be nice of course. Anyone out there have a similar problem?

My best friend owns a 2002 400EX. He was going through around 10-15 fuses each trip we went on when he would turn his lights on and try to start it. We put 20's in it and it helped a little. But he ended up taking it into the dealership and having them fix the short in the wiring. It works fine now since they did it right.

Thanks for the replies. My Honda manual came in. I tried the 20 amps while out at Glamis, no luck, I had to disconnect the lights to keep the fuses from blowing, which means the wiring problem is from the connector to the lights. Glad I know how to use an OHM meter. The same weekend my friend fried two batteries and his lights, we traced it to the voltage regulator/rectifier, $41, plus you have to buy another battery. Temecula Motorsports says they order them 10 at a time...I think I'll buy an extra one for my three 400's.
Hey DS650-FOX, did your friend happen to know if they changed out his lightbulbs also?
