i was mugged at gun point last night at the park of the hotel where i lodged, all cash, credit cards and cell phone were stolen off me. I've been to the embassy and the police here but they're not helping issues at all, My flight leaves in less than 24hrs from now and am having problems settling the hotel bills.

The hotel manager won't let me leave until i settle the hotel bills now am freaked out, All i need from you now is just a loan to pay for the hotel bills and to get my flight back to the next 24 Hours. I promise to pay the money back to you as soon as i get back home....because the hotel manager won't let me go until i pay for the hotel bills...

I need your help.

Regards,
Skip.

Got a similar one from a friend a year ago. His account was hacked and they mailed the message to everyone in his contact list. Said he was stranded and needed money to get back into the country. They could have at least spelled his name right on the bottom...... laughing.gif

I started getting multiple ones from 1 person I know lately, but it's just been spam.......

A similar one that is working it's way around involves a person claiming to be in jail and needing bail money. It's usually from a "grandchild" to a grandparent asking them to wire money to get them out of jail. This one has been pretty effective.

Use a strong password (combo of letters, numbers, symbols, upper case and lower case, 8 chars or more), and change it every 60-90 days if you can. I get emails like this from my friends, and ask them if their password is something simple. Every time, it was just a single word in all lower case, or 4-6 numbers only.

Of course, this doesn't guarantee anything, but it certainly decreases the likelihood of something happening.

I use a combo of cars/trucks/bikes I've owned over the years. I even use the ones dating back to when I was a kid, and nobody would remember those cars, the years, the models, the engine size.

Pick a year of a vehicle you've owned (74) and the make (chevy, ford, merc, volvo) and use just 4 letters of the make, 2 upper case, 2 lower case, then use the engine size, but use the shift before you type the numbers ($%$) or whatever combo you can use from this. That satifies almost any criteria, from almost any password requirement you might have. If it's not a military computer, you can put a 1 or an A in front, when it's time to change it.
