I don't plan on doing a hood or dash on my S&S build and was thinking floor mount would probably be the cleanest look... what's your thoughts?

I'll be walking around the SSSS with cash looking to buy a set... kenk.gif

I have drove cars with both style of pedals. I prefer the feel of the hanging pedals as it feels more natural.

I've owned VW Beetles, and I like the floor pedals. Your own preferance, looks like

I prefer the hangers. Most cars except bugs have hangers and they feel more natural. Plus I originally had to get reverse hangers because my car was small and needed the room for the AArm.

My new car is going hangers for all the reasons everyone mentioned. But Floor pedal are fine and easy to use - if the car bounces alot, I think more controllable on the brake and I think a lot cleaner in cars without hoods to hide them

The other big advantage to me is that if you overfill or have a cap come a little loose or a rotted seal, hangers tend to spray brake fluid all over the piece including your legs and shoes.
I know that sounds stupid, but two seasons ago I was "checking the fluid" and left the cap loose - no sand in the master, but fluid all over the floor. Luckily I noticed got out cleaned it with water from the cooler, tightened the cap and was on my way - with hangers it would have Sucked.

Oh I would stay CNC or quality pedals and stay away from the Chinese stuff, costs a bit more but seem to last longer without rebuilds IMO

One way to help with that mess is to wear rubber boots or Crocs....smile.gif

One thing about the hangers besides the fluid mess is it takes much more plumbimg to get down to the floor especially the reverse hangers.

I have drove both myself, and it had to do with the seat height, I find that i hate a floor pedal if the seat is real high and if the seat is closer to the floor, like in a desert dynamics, I like the floor pedals.

First car had floor mounted pedals and the one I have now has hanging pedals. I prefer the hangers for all of the reasons stated above. I have a larger car and the seats sit about 4" above the floor giving you more of a regular vehicle feel. I couldn't imagine trying to drive my car with floor mounted pedals.

best thing to do karl is get in a few cars and see what you like. also are you going to run a hood-thought you said you were not? hanging pedals i think look a bit funny with no hood. thats just me thou.

my car is back together if you want to come check out floor mounts.

JOHNBISHOP
I like hanging pedals, wen you push on them it's a forward stroke vs floor pedals and your pushing over the top of them. Also, the floor boards being smooth vs having them mounted on the floor means less of a chance of debris getting stuck in them.

Also, I have a set of hanging CNC pedals for sale along with a floor mount gas pedal....... Call me

Thanks for everybodys thoughts!

Kyle, yes you are correct... no hood. Maybe I'll swing by tomorrow evening... you basically have the same chassis as mine, so it will be a good idea to get in and see how yours feel.

Mr. Bishop... can you throw in that LS1 with the deal? lol Wish I had the cash right now to buy it! Layaway plan... lease to own maybe??? hehe... I joke I joke...

I too prefer hangers. I'm running Neal/CNC pedals in mine with a floor mount gas pedal.

I've wondered about this alot, and prefer the "idea" of hangers so time will tell when I get a new chassis and get to try it out.

I plan to use Wilwood for all my brake/clutch parts, I find it hard to find parts easily for the some of the sand products (CNC-Jamar) or atleast hard to find the right part number to ask for the replacement parts.

Making a "service manual" with replacement parts will be key when I build.
Brake Pads
bearings front/rear
heim's
altnator
belts
filters

the list could be long... maybe even break it up into trip replacement, year replacement, 3-year, 5-year, etc...
my car was built in 1996 so a 10-15 year maint schedule would have been a good idea
