As most people have read, DUNERs now has a certified ATV instuctor at it's disposal (me). The reason for this is simple, California law requires kids to be certified or ride with an adult who is. DUNERs took a proactive role in this by sending me to school to become certified. The expense for this was absorbed by DUNERs and no, it's not cheap. But if DUNERs had not paid for the classes, we would not be able to offer it to our members at no cost.
Ok, heres where we (DUNERs) need help. When we conduct the certification classes, we need some equipment. I hoping to get some businesses or members to help with this.
We need:
*****************UPDATE**********************************
about 30 small orange cones. supplied by Thor
a tape measure that will run at least 150 feet (roll-up kind would be nice)(supplied by Bob Simrak)
A few rolls of duct tape(supplied by Thor)
Fire extingisher (sp?)(supplied by Bryan Warren)
stocked first aid kit. ( supplied by Greg Hall)
Portable air tank(possibly supplied by Slappy)
Thanks to all who have confirmed and those I have made suggestions to. DUNERs volunteers rock!
There are a few other things I will list later.
If you think you may be able to help with this, it sure would help us save from spending our allready limited funds.
If you can help, please contact Vicki or myself.

Silly me... I forgot to tell you we have the fire extinguisher covered. Just tell Bryan what you're needing and he'll get one (or more) donated.

Cool Slap... I think a 5 gallon or so air tank with a big "glamisdunes.com" sticker on the side would be awsome. And a xxxl jacket to go with it...you know, to keep the tank warm....
I have an offer for cones and duct tape allready, thanks.
BTW, Slappy, my wife thinks an xL jacket would keep it just as warm.

Chummin, thanks very much for the offer. Acually I have an offer from Aftermarket for a portable air compressor and I think(hope) Slappy will provide an air tank as well.
As for cones, Thor has offered to provide those to us. If somethng falls thru, I will certainly let you know.
BTW, these are jsut a few things that I am required to have onsite any time I do an ATV certification class..
Thanks again for the offer.

I was wondering the same thing
Part of the class involves a safety check and the tires need to be properly filled before the class can continue
Tom said there are
required items (which is the list here) and there are
suggested items. Water was a suggested item.

For everyone that ofered to donate items, Thanks a million. I have been pretty busy and haven't been in touch with many of you. Paperwork with the DMV has been filed and I am in the waiting mode. When I get the final papers from them the classes can move forward. When that happens., I will certainly get in touch with all of you and gladly accept your offers.
Thanks again

I dont see the need for a air tank - Not sure if Slappy knows hes be volunteered to donate one - I just happen to know he doesnt own one either.. ??????
A small 12v compressor should work fine to start with I would think. Just trying to save some confusion..

Well Chummin, the ATV saftey institute says I MUST have an air tank on hand when I conduct the classes. Unless you can change their policy, I will have an air tank on hand.
The difference between the compressor offered by Aftermarket and the tank is simple, I dont have a compressor and I dont want to go to a gas station everytime I want to fill up the tank, nor do I want to carry a compressor everytime I need to re-air a tire in the field. There really is a need for both.
As for Slappy, well, he'll come around and find me a tank, Im pretty sure.
Thanks for your concern.

Yeah right. You're just hoping he throws in a GD.com jacket to keep it warm!
It's been a while, but I talked to Dallas about this airtank issue... you should have a chat with her too.

Accually Vicki, I spoke with Dallas last night. All is well and she is still donating. I just wanted to let her know about the timeline on this. Everything with everyone is still on course...well except Slappy...Im still waiting for his confirmation...I have confidence...

Tom,
Do you need anything else?

I am sorry I saw this late, if there is anything else you need (like 330R said), I am more than willing. A couple low pressure tire air gauges? This is worthy investment and thanks for helping out the younger ones!

Mike and Raptor, I think I have everything covered...well accually, we could use some pressure gauges. But as far as big stuff, were looking pretty good. Nothing will be needed for a while yet as I am still waiting for DMV to finish there end of the deal. When that is done I will remind everyone who offered things. Thanks to everyone.
