Over the years Slap has witnessed quite a few things; people come and go, friends made, friends lost...Things are changing outside of our scope...Slap has to tell you folks dat are here right now:

You betcha frogster...The GD.com family is growin, and Slap is downright proud how we treat and take cares of each other...But, there be things outside da family (Slap means outside the family scope, like other folks) that don't really understand or get what we be all about, and dat be a shame. Slap has welcomed everybody and anybody, but still some just don't want to play with da likes of us, and dat is ok. Mother G has influences all around her, and things are in the midst of change, we see that. We as a family know that it could be simple, yet it seems more and more complicated.

From what Slap has witnessed over da years from the people on this board, Slap would like to see a little more respect given to us, as Slap thinks we be the heart and soul of Mother G.

Frog, if ya didn't understand dat, well, explain it to Slap, cuz he didn't either In a nutshell Frogster, Slap wishes we had more influence on da powers that be, and that they would come out to see what and who we are...We care so much about Mother G dat it hurts, and Slap wishes that the other side could see it...Slap saw dat cartoon from the Sierra Club, and it didn't go over well in Slap's belly...Things are in the midst of change...

Slappy, I hear you loud and clear.

Influence? There's lots of it here. Just because it's not shouted from the rafters doesn't mean it doesn't exist. You might be surprised just who reads this board and what they take from it. Not just people in our pro-access community, but outside that circle too, like BLM and Fish & Wildlife. And it's a good thing they read this board because they take some valuable information from it.

For instance, it was a FWS agent who told me they've noticed how many people from GlamisDunes.com actually raise their hands when it's time to get off the sidelines and into the fight. They were very impressed

And within our pro-access community the people on this board are causing quite a ripple. Knowledge is power and yes, the people here have a good time but many of them are also starting to really learn the issues and can mentally arm-wrestle with the best of them.

Even the bad guys, the closure fiends, give a nod of respect to the people here. Heck there is at least one conservation group leader out there who is green with envy (pun intended) over how we are able to use our passion to effect change, heard it from her my own self.

So take heart Slappy, you/GlamisDunes/family, we're all making a difference.

And don't worry about those who "don't really understand or get what we be all about" because they're just barking dogs... if you don't remember that story, remind me to tell it to you some time.

Actually, this is where I got all my information about Glamis when me an my friends decided to give it a try 2 years ago. We were pretty familiar with the landmarks and where everything was located without ever having seen the dunes. This board is VERY helpful to beginners.
