This looks like it's going to hurt. Does anyone know if the outcome was good?
I have the asked about the aftermath on that pic before, but no answer. Awesome pic though!!!
Early Tatum 4 seater.....John is the owners name,good guy.Walked away with minor injuries ,and car was fixed easily from what I was told.
I thought he borke of his wrists??? Yeah I guess in the grand scheme of things that is minor, but I'd still be bummed if somebody else to wipe my a$$ for me....ya know?

isnt there a video from a side/rear shot? there is a bike that jumps first then he goes right??
yeah, he out jumped that kx by a long ways also. the story was jon had jumped there before with his old motor, new turbo motor hit the jump same as always but boost was now a factor and hit it way harder than planned.
o ok, i saw it on deepsand like a yr ago, it was on the front page.

I've seen that pic a thousand times since it happened and it still amazes me. That has got to be the biggest buggy air ever caught on camera.
Just insane, so is there a movie or what? 
I just read all the replys under it, funny what everyone thought. Rose from the grave

I took that picture. He broke his back and smashed his face on the steering wheel. Not good. He was a rookie driver and that was his first jump. We told him to just ease over the top and see how the jump felt... maybe get a couple feet of air. Instead he chose to go BIG, full throttle in second gear with a V8. Not good.
P.S. That was one of the scariest things I ever witnessed. His hang time was so much that I was able to snap four pictures while he was in the air, and I didn't have the camera set for continuous shooting, that was four seperate pics. It knocked him out cold for a few minutes. He thought he had rolled it even though he didn't roll. It wasn't even his car, it was his friend's car.
Does anyone still have the video? It was shot by a girl and was on DeepSand,
I would like to see it again.

wow that sucks, thanks king for the feedback on that one, ive always wondered how that one went.... do u got a pic of the landing by any chance?

I had one, but can't find it. All four pics were in Sand Sports magazine when I did the story about that car. There is probably one on the internet somewhere, just not sure where.

The landing is on the video if anyone still has it. It may still be on DeepSand.
When it hit it spun around sideways in a big cloud of dust couldn't see much
until the car stoped. It went over the top of the girl's head (to the side) that shot
it, got real quite while in the air, real weird.

Did you see the one where Tony Shoemaker crashed his AAfuel car last season and his cage broke off the car with him in it and just missed this huge tree, you talk about being luckey.

A steel braded gas line was going across the battery cable, short burned a hole
in the gas line. He seen it start but couldn't get it out. He said I will never use steel
braded gas line again, duh just don't run it across battery cables.
