I saw a lot of quads this weekend with knobbies on and I was wondering is there a good place to ride in San Diego county?
SHOCKER
Did any of them have number plates? because alot fo us raced at elsinore,

the only places to ride during summer are track, i have been to el cajon mx and elsinore and love both, exceot im starting to get mad at elsinore do to the crappy jumps they have been making, well the one i crashed on has a crappy landing and the one after it shoots ya off it weird
jwfab1
It's always the JUMPS fault, LOL.

Haven't been to Elsinore for a while, but I have been hearing a lot of bad reviews, whats up with that, do the owners not care anymore?

SHOCKER
Na the track is great, i actually love the track, but the jump use to be a 40' double which i did easily, and now its a 50' table and the landing sucks on it, and they didnt even change the take off, they just lengthened the whol jump without changing the take off, and then the jump after it is a ?? i dont know what its called, but i only got 2 laps until i crashed but i want to go out there and do the 50' table, i was doing great to, o well i guess they are changing the track alot

What?? You're high!! Ever heard of corral canyon or bear valley road? Thats 2 off the top of my head where people always ride during the summer.
SHOCKER
Yeah but those places get hotter than riding in the city and stuff, they are right off the desert, isnt corral canyon right before teh grade or right before the border patrol gates whatever they are called
Rubberneck
Corral canyon is right by buckman springs. Bear Valley is at the pine valley exit. It gets hotter in el cajon than it does out there. And no they're not right off the desert.

McCain Valley is an awesome place to ride, take 8 east, get off at campo exit, turn right at the bottom of the offramp, go left at the first intersection, head east about 2-3 miles, turn left again (toward the freeway) go under the freeway, 3 miles asphault, 3 miles dirt and you are there, great for 2 wheelers, and fine for 4. nice mountain breeze, also last time I was there, a deer ran right in front of me, we went in August, never got over 84 degrees.
raptorflash
well I've been to corral canyon and mccain valley but I was hoping there was somthing better out there. Mccain valley is defintely a two wheeler area and mccain valley is ok for a few minutes on the fire roads but the trails again are more for a m/c or 4wd quads with some ground clearance. I didn't like taking my raptor off of the fire roads. But then again its just MY opinion. rolleyes.gif

Went to Ocotillo today, lets just say it's probably not a good place to ride in the summer. It was 110 degrees when we left at 9:30. For some reason we had the place pretty much to ourselves. icon_confused.gif laughing.gif
What are the temps at Lake Elsinore?
SHOCKER
On satruday it was high to mid 90's wasnt bad at all atually it wasnt too humid either
bigbadKTM
theres always that dirt lot right off the 8 by that closed map stop. probably get there off of blossom valley...i think. its "huge" lol
Screamin Ian
I thought there was a place off the 905 you could ride, close to the border
Rubberneck
Heard they're crackin down on the 905 since it wasn't legal to ride there. icon_confused.gif
Screamin Ian
it has been awhile last time I was down there, had the streetbike and we were having a little "fun"
SANDFANATIC
We ride off of 905 sometimes. If you go watch for the cops, they do sweeps sometimes. Most of the time they leave you alone if your not destroying thing and trashing the place. If you see some one get hurt, get the hell out of there. The cops will come soon after if it is called in. So it is a gamble to go there.
hillbilly
I was told that if the cop came out they will take your bike or toys even if you have papers no question ask

That little spot by the map stop is Rios Canyon Ballfields. Not worth packing up to ride for a day. Just a couple laps. Is Lark Canyon the same as McCain valley? Lark is out in Boulevard/Jacumba. Speaking of which, Jacumba wilderness is usuable. BP don't mind. Miles of trails. I went riding around Boulevard a while back. Fun stuff too. Just watch for private property
SHOCKER
Yeah i dont like rios canyon anymore, its now just for testing stuff out, the last time i was there was to test out my Z after i got it
SANDFANATIC
I've never seen or heard of anybody actually getting there stuff taken. All I've heard of is people getting tickets. It is the police so anything is possible, they could take your toys if they want to be real pricks.
Bansh88
I have seen a Sheriff "off-road task force" truck with a toy box trailer.
For hauling your bikes away?

On our way to Phx this past Friday afternoon we saw some people loading up quads at Bear Valley Rd. (Pine Valley). I used to ride there a lot . . .

Off Sbjct - 19 years ago. In fact, came around a corner on my 200X one time going too fast and side swiped a police car. Broke the drivers side back window with my handlebar and my grip was actually in the back seat. I was young and didn't get TOO hurt. The Sherrif wasn't so happy with me but surprisingly, didn't cite me. They did make us load up and drive over to their little station in Pine Valley but basically scolded me and let us go.

Anyways - then they fenced off the tracks and other trails that were built off the main road. Last I knew, vehicles had to be street legal to be on that road. Is that still the case?

El Cajon MX "QUAD & Vet dirt bike" practice tonight, 8/16/04 - $20.00 to practice. $2.00 for Spectators. Just bring your helmet and quad. No racing equipment needed.
