Im helping my wife search for an adopted sibling and need some advice. She has a half sister and wants to find her. My wifes mother has passed so are limited on info that we have. We know the approximate birth date and the adopted fathers name. I have tried searching google etc but have not had any luck. If anybody has any tips or info on where to go from her please let me know. I know a PI would be able to help but that would cut into the desert fund tongue.gif

Thanks'

Don't know if this will help or not, but when I adopted my daughter she got a completely new birth certificate and social security card with my last name on it (wife took my name after we got married, 1 year waiting period before you can adopt a step child in AZ).

So you may want to search public records for her half sister's first name plus the adopted father's last name. I think you can get the record from the court for a few dollars, but I don't know who is allowed to access it. The only caveat, at least in AZ, is we had the option to "seal" the adoption, which basically would have wiped away the record of who the biological father was. If we had done that, there would have been no way to work backwards.

However, if you can get the adopted birth certificate record, and the original is not sealed, you could also get the copy of the original I think. They are linked together somehow. Good luck. Also it's crazy, but try Facebook and Myspace, seems like 80% of the US has one of those now.

I am an adopted child out of Texas. The only info I have is that I have 5 siblings no info about my Bio parents. I have tried all the internet resources and had no luck so I have taken a break for now...I just want to urge you to use caution as with anything now days there are a lot of unethical people out there that will take your money to "search" or "investigate" for you when all they are doing is accessing records that you could access yourself for little or no charge.

Good Luck,

JB
