I am going to buy and install circuit breaker box that connects to deep cycle battery to hook up lights in my enclosed trailer. Does anyone have the diagram of how to install it?

The 12 volt system or the 110 volt system?

12 volts

I think you mean a fuse panel.

A circuit breaker box is used for 110v Ac stuff, a fuse panel is used for 12v stuff.

It's very easy. Just figure out how many fuses you need, add an extra 4 or 6 for good measure, buy a fuse panel from Amazon.com with that many fuse slots in it. Mount it anywhere you want (either a central location or near the battery) an run one 8 ga cable to the positive post, and an 8 ga cable to the negative post. Then run your wiring to your lights and hook up the positive and neg. wires to the terminals and put in some fuses, rated about 50 or 60% higher than your actual load.

I did a quick search, and found this. http://www.amazon.com/12-CIRCUIT-FUSE-BLOC...R/dp/B004XCGD0W

This is from Amazon, but you can find them from eBay to Painless Wiring to NAPA, to just about any auto parts supplier for varing prices.

Be sure to use the wire sizing gauge that is recommended, here's one I found.. http://www.offroaders.com/tech/12-volt-wire-gauge-amps.htm

Or this one... http://www.the12volt.com/info/recwirsz.asp

Compare the 2 and use the larger size wire, it'll save some headaches in the future. And use the best grounding spots that you can, right to the frame is best.

If you plan to run some high wattage lights to light up the outside of the trailer, be sure to used at least 1 relay, I would suggest 1 relay for each big light for the outside. or if you have high wattage, say, spot lights, inside, use the relays also.

To get the power to the block, again, use the biggest recommended, or 1 size over. And putting the power to the fuse block it the LAST thing to do.

I really don't think that 12 volt wiring or lights is that hard, if you take your time, and do some reading before you start. You can PM or email me if you'd like too. I'll help as much as I know, and can. debtanker@msn.com

Good luck, and post some progress pics, we all like to see them!!

If you have a long run between the positive battery terminal and the fuse block, should you be concerned about putting a fuse in to protect agains a short in the wire?

On a side note, instead of fuses they do have 12 volt circuit breakers.

Sound like not hard to do this. Many thanks!
Will post pics for sure

I have used the one (Blue Sea) that BBT recommended. It is a good unit. With labels, it makes the job neat and easy to understand.

I also used Paneltronics like this one:
12V Breaker Panel

It is more money, but really dresses things up and uses actual breakers rather than fuses.
