Touch decision. Haven't seen the new TRX450. I've seen the YFZ and it's nice.. Seen predaturds and they're nice too.
I'm a 2 stroke guy BUT these 4 strokes are starting to come around. I'll have to think about this for a while before I vote.

Those 4 strokes don't light a candle to a TRX 250R. I owned a 04' YFZ gutless pig....

really?? I've never rode one. Maybe I should actually ride a 4 stroke before I consider one.
Nothing beats the powerband on a 2 stroke. I know the 4 stroke dirtbikes have nothing on my KX500.

YFZ450 here, have not been on a Honda 450 so can't compare them.....rode the kawi and Z 400's a couple weekends, all weekend long and they were very good, but the YFZ is much better.....

You guys are on glue if you think the YFZ is the best duning quad

, first of all if your over 5'10" then you feel way cramped on it, second the seat sux and gives you a wedgie like a thong, and third the stock suspension is way to hard for the dunes...IMO

Couple of suggestions:
1) add 1" of foam to the seat, see:
http://www.cascade-innovations.com/ 2) ADJUST the shocks, there are adjustments located on each shock to make it a way more comfortable ride. They come very stiff from the factory. Rode mine for a year until someone pointed that out to me
I'm 6' 205 lbs and don't have a problem with the size, I kinda like low to the ground, but that is just my opinion.

I think the banshee is a great dune quad but not the best, i mean it doesnt handle as well as the new 450's and it doesnt jump as well, but the yami 450 i think is the best because it has the best power, its electric start, and it handles and jumps great, but thats my opinion, oh and i know the 400's are underpowered compared to the 450's but i mean they still dune great

Maybe thats why they're still so popular after how many years?? Those have always been one of my favorite bikes. Sister in law has one and it has a duncan or CT 310 in it. It's very clean and hauls ass. Those bikes will never die. That old ass technology is still running strong.

I had an '88 250R, and in my opinion, was the best duning quad out there. It was light (280 lbs. dry), had great 3rd and 4th gearing for duning, could turn it on a dime, excellent balance in the air, and when I showed up at the hill, I beat everyone except the built banshees.
It was a good investment too - I rode it for eight seasons then made $1200.00 profit over the original purchase price.

IMHO the best dunner quad is......MINE.

Really though, PSDave would vouch for me, I swear by my 'R', but you'd have to ride it to see why. 55-60 through the whoops to the store, and can still drink a coctail without spilling.

I think the poll was for the best duning quad wasn't it..
I owned a 89 trx250 r, a 250X and my raptor. I 've ridden the new 450's both honda and yamaha, the zilla, banshee, v-force.
This is how i would vote for the best duning quad!! in stock form...cuzz anybody can throw a couple of grand at a terd and make it handle good..
1)zilla 500...they were low, wide and plenty of power
2)yamaha raptor..the torque is just a blast to ride in the sand
3) Honda Trx 250R... the light weight and nimbleness was a blast to throw around.
4)Honda 450.. the ergonomics and the feel of the bike is right on
5) V-force- although a heavy cow, after you ride one, you'll have to stop from laughing too hard
6) Banshee still king of the hills and a powerband of a chainsaw motor. i wasn't too impressed with the duning qualitys.
JMO..so don't playa hate..

It was close, but I gave the edge to the Honda, to me it is a smoother machine all the way around. It needs the extra hp from the HRC kit, and there is something cool about kick starting.
I haven't tried the Pred, but have heard good things about them, and 500cc sounds like fun.
However, after having my daughter's Yam suspension worked over, there is a HUGE difference between stock and modified, the thing soaks up whoops and rides like you wouldn't beleive, it is a totaly different bike, but it takes a few thousand to do that. Extended A-arms, long travel shocks, steering stablizer, extended rear axle, new bars, etc, etc. can really change the dynamics of what you're riding. Then, I guess it comes down to frame geometry and hp.
Soooo, the next poll might be, which would be the best quad if a guy had $5k to spend on fixing it up?
