How do you determine what size coil springs to use on a dual coil over set up?
My Car has king 2.5 coil overs in the rear with 3.0 14-350 on top and 3.0 16-450
on the bottom, with 15/12 valving, no by-pass. When I first had the Car in 2005
it rode excellent every where, it weight was 1820lbs. Now the Car's weight is 2260lbs
with all the up-grades. Now it bottoms out real hard with anything over 2 people in the Car.
My question is do I go to heavier springs and how much? Do I change the valving?
I cranked down the springs about an extra 2 inches to get the ride height level.
Don't really want to get by-pass shock because I would need to fab new shock towers.
My Car is a 5-seat SandCars.net, Mendi, Subie 6 Turbo.
Thanks

Buddie,
Hit up TylerScott88 on the board - he's a suspension whiz, I am sure he could give you some advice and he is really reasonably priced to tune your cars suspension.

Need to start by knowing how much over all preload is in it right now at ride height. Measure the springs when it's sitting level on the ground and subtract that from the stamped length of your springs. With Zero preload you should have 30" of spring, that will help them help you as well maybe have a good idea on how much nitrogen is in them.

Hey buddie sorry about not getting to this much much sooner.
As for the question, is your ride height still good after adding the weight? If you are happy with the height of the car then don't mess with the springs. If you have 15reb and 12comp. I'd say simply flip it so 15comp and 12reb to start.
Once again super sorry I spaced out on this thread and PM.

Thanks Tyler,
No, the ride height is really low in the back. I tried cranking down the springs another 2 inches to level
her out but the springs seem to be binding. Do I need heavier springs or just longer ones.
Thanks

The new heavier springs sound like the ticket to get the ride height correct but you will still need to change the valving. It will still bottom out if you just change springs.

How much heavier should I go? When are you available and how much is your service?
Thanks,

My advice is use a professional. King used to have a "tuners day", maybe they still do... loads of guys with lots of experience and parts that they can swap out right there in the dunes, immediate results with NO guessing.
