well I am now in search of a table saw, I thought I might be able to use a jig saw to rip the pieces of plank but I dont think it will look as clean as I want. I may rent or try and borrow one, but craftsman has one on sale right now for 99 that supposedly is pretty good for light duty like this. Not sure how much use I will get from it.

Well hope everyone has a great night.

Morning Gang yay.gif
Screamin Ian
good morning gang.

Aaron, yeah, a table saw is definately the way to go with the flooring. IF you have a steady hand and can secure it well enough you might be able to use a circular saw, In fact I am using mine today to rip down some baseboard. Granted its just one 5' piece to match the rest thats already there.

If you can find a tablesaw in your price range with the guide that is connected on both the front and back of the table it makes a world of difference. My DeWalt saws guide is on a rack type set up, take a quick peek at one and you will know what I mean. Most of the saws that I have seen only anchor in the front which will throw off your measurement at the blade and behind it. When measuring, measure from the guide to the blade both at the front of the blade and back to make sure they are the same, if not you can either end up with a crooked cut or pinching your material depending on which way the guide is crooked. I mainly use mine for cabinet fillers and they have to be perfectly straight.

Don't forget to take pics for us.

Have a great day all, I think I may be done with my part of the remodel today, worked myself out of a job. But I think I may have a decent one coming up possibly next week. (Steel studded test lab room for high powered lazers.)

Dan Make sure you get wrist restraints. You Never know when they may be "required"!!
Screamin Ian
Wes, they remotes come with wrist restraints. and they need to be used. The first generation of wrist straps for the wii had to be recalled cuz they were breaking, they redesigned them and are stronger now. Guess people got mad when they were taking out their ceiling fans and tvs with them. We have only had one "incident" while playing. and it wasnt due to restraint failure, the glass of milk was just too close to our playing area. We were playing tennis, full swing and BAM, milk everywhere.

Damn another day gone. I am going to have to admit that Erica and I sat in line last night for an hour and twenty minutes for Krispy Kreme donoughts. Thats right an hour and twenty minutes and Erica said it was worth every minute. It was a diabetic comma in a box but damn was it worth it.

I looked at the little craftsman table saw for 99 bucks it is kind of chincey but I think will be more than adequate for ripping 3/8" think 3 inch wide planks. If it sucks I can always return it.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Honey, I don't think those were the wrist restraints he was referring too. icon_wink.gif

Mario Kart for the Wii is so much fun, you have to have the steering wheel, now if they would just come out with pedals for the brake and gas.

I think most of the Krispy Creme places have closed in San Diego. They were popular for about a few years, but kinda lost their appeal.

BTW I really am pissed about my neighbor right now. When we moved into the house he called the police on my dogs. Complained about my back yard, called the city about dog poo in my back yard. Called the city about my boat on the side of my house. Complained about my garbage bins being left of the side of my house. Complained about my front yard. Complained about the boxes in my side yard from my remodel.

Well last night he wales on my front door. I answer and he says we have a real problem. We go over and he proceeds to lecture me on my garbage cans smelling. I am not effing with you, he really did this. He said that there were flies around my can and then I need to clean it out because he cant come out of the side of his house because of the smell. Ok seriously am I just being unreasonable or is he really being that much of a douche? I am pretty pissed but Erica called the city and they are bringing me a new bin. I just cant stand this shit any more. Any suggestions

Turn about is fair play in neighbor disputes tongue.gif
The Wife
Sorry your neighbor is such an ass Aaron, it isn't just you. He really is a really big jerk. Sadly, as much as we would like to, we can't change anyone but ourselves.

This is going to sound really corny, but when I come up against people like that, I try to put myself in their shoes to figure out where they are coming from, even if I have to make stuff up. Like the guy weaving in and out of traffic, speeding and cutting me off. When I feel myself getting angry, I just imagine that his wife is in the hospital giving birth and he is trying to get there as fast as he can (or any other similar story) and it take sthe edge off and then I am able to empathize with him.

I think your neighbor is a miserable person, I would bet he sees you and your beautiful wife, your family and your friends and is jealous. I wouldn't be angry with him, I would be sad for him. How pathetic a life he must have if the only thing he can think of to do is look around the neighborhood and report people for their supposed infractions. Is that the only way he can get attention? Does he even have any friends? Next time he comes over with some B.S. complaint, ask him why he feels the need to bully you. Does it make him feel like more of a man? Does he feel so powerless in the rest of his life, that the only way he can feel better about himself is to intimidate his neighbors? It is so funny to see people get wrapped up in these petty, petty things and then stop being able to see what is really imporant in life.

Robin has pretty much said what there is to say about this guy.

My questions are

1. what became of the complaints when he called the cops?

2. have you broken any laws, codes or HOA rules?

if the answer to question 2 is no then very nicely tell him to go pound sand and that if he ever has another complaint that he should call your lawyer. and also if he ever steps on your property again that he will be trespassing and you will press charges (if you have to put up the no trespassing sign then do it)

Keep a cool head and speak clearly and stearnly...

of course this easy for me to say my nieghbors are cool

good luck Aaron you guys are to nice to have to deal with this.

Screamin Ian
kind of puts things into perspective dont it.
AZDUNERAT
When he called the police I was given a warning and then told if it happened again I would recieve a fine.

We dont live in an HOA and the city just leaves me nice notes in the mail saying that I have to maintain my property. Kind of frustrating because I would have to say that I have one of the nicer front and back yards and without a doubt the nicest interior in the area.
Screamin Ian
^^^one reason why I can NEVER have neighbors again, I am so spoiled.

Crazy neighbors are not fun!!!! I had one at the condo and it appears I have one here in the park too!

She pounded on our door at 3:30 in the morning a few weeks ago and demanded we turn down our music.....that wasn't even playing!!!!! We were sleeping!!!!!!

I ran into her a couple weeks later and told her not to ever come to my door at 3:30 in the morning again!!!

She is metally unstable.......the management told me so!
AZDUNERAT
well we will see how this turns out. The new bin will be here tomarrow.

I am now scouring the interned looking for articles on how to install the wood floors. I am just woried about installing it to the door jamb. I am hoping that it tuns out good.
A-Dare
Ahh fck Aaron. I used to have one of those too. The neighbors across the street from me where an older couple, maybe in their early 60's. He was a big dude, real bully attitude, but had bad knees. His wife was a crazy alcoholic. They had problems with everybody in the neighborhood, they all said it was my time in the barrell. When we first moved in, we drug the trailer down to Super X. Came home late, but their was a car parked in front of our pad, so we parked across the street. While I was in inside my house, he came out yelling at my wife, threating that we better have this piece of shit moved in the morning. Then he would complain about my dog barking. She would only bark when the neighbor kids were outside playing ball. She just wanted to play. They would never actually come over and complain, but leave anoymous notes in our mail box. They would bitch if I started up my buggy. The last time he complained, my buddy was over tuning my carbs. Guy comes over and stands fuming at the end of my driveway. I go down and ask "What?" He goes on a rampage about he was going to call the cops. I calmly tell him to go ahead, call them, just don't come over and tell me about it. He continued to go on a rampage. I was once told him that the next time he had to limp over, he was going to crawl back. Luckily, they moved away....thank God. Funny part though, they moved away probably 2 years ago and still haven't been able to sell their house. Not a big believer in Karma.....but it's a bitch.... I know that much.

Good morning guys...Aaron, what part of the jamb do you think you are going to have trouble with? If its the casing, just cut a bit of it up from the floor and slip the floor under it. (do that with tile) if its on the sides, just cut it as close as humanly possible, and you can caulk in the little gap with PAINTABLE silicone, they make transitions strips to go from the wood to the tile, I normally get some silicone and glue it down, put blue masking tape on it til it dries and its all bueno. If its upstairs then there is a different type of transition strip for carpet and you can tack it down with your new pin nailer. Hope everything works out for ya, if you think I can talk you through something, dont be afraid to call me, cell phone Sat day, home phone Sat eve, Sun. If you dont have both numbers PM me and you will get them.

Today is my Friday, going to be doing drywall for the 3rd day in a row. Mon/Tues taped and textured the entire bathroom I was working on, Yesterday taped/textured 1/2 bathroom someone else was working on, Today I get to help tape/texture something else. I dont like drywall just cuz I have done so much of it in the past, but at least its not all that hard and I dont need my work trailer so I get better gas milage. 16mpg with trailer, 20 mpg without. 120+ miles a day it makes a difference.

Have a great day everyone.

Ian the flooring is the Click-Lock style so my only concern is how to get it under the jamb since I have to install it at an angle. I am thinking I may just cut the edge of of the lock and glue them together using my tapping block. I will be picking up my table saw tomarrow and prepping the room tomarrow night. Very exciting for sure.

Funny side note. I forgot to mail my trailer payment this week, the payment is due on the 11th. Well I get a call yesterday saying that they are trying to collect a debt and that my payment is delinquent. I was like WTF did I forget a month and now have a 30 day late???????? Nope I was 3 days late, I was talking to the guy on the phone and I guess GE is taking huge losses on thier RV financing so they are making calls after the payment is one day late. Damn I guess times are getting tough.

HV if my neighbor hadnt lived in this area for years I would swear it was the same guy. He has calmed down lately but every now and again he goes off the edge. We keep hoping that one day we see a for sale sign in front of his house but no luck yet.

I know the answer to this one but feel free to have a man confirm what I tell you laughing.gif

You put the flooring up against the door jamb and mark it with a pencil......then you take a hack saw (I think that is the name of it) and you cut the very bottom of the door jamb off so that the new flooring slides right under neath it for a good tight clean fit!!!

yay.gif all my years of watching HGTV have not been in vain!!!! laughing.gif

Aaron I bought a small saw, placed a scrap piece on the floor and cut the jamb out. It came out perfect and with a little putty and paint you can't even tell.

Aaron what do ya got to worry about. I will be there helping ya along the way and it's a piece of cake bro. We'll get 'er done and it'll look amazing.

Tramp- hope it comes together for you soon. Maybe I can meet you up for lunch if you're available when you come in. Let me know. I can drive up to the shop as well.

Another note. HappySkateboarding.com should be live tomorrow first thing! We have been working hard getting this ready for its opening and we have a total of 40 items to sell as of today. It will grow substantially as we get a grip on how all of this works, but we are excited nonetheless. The front page is live but when you go to the shop link at the bottom box it does not take you to the shop yet so hopefully it will be live tomorrow. Take it easy guys....
