When I first saw this report I was infuriated. I let it go as one of those KOOK stories... But THIS KOOK story has been put together WELL.
I checked out the press release and web page that offers up the original report. These guys are ALL ABOUT press. Never mind that they are telling half-truthes and some outright lies... I guess if you are a reporter it doesn't matter if you have facts. What seems to matter to these reporters is whether it will be an EASY story.
I'll be reading this report over the weekend and you had better believe I'll have a few words to say about it.
Maybe I'll send MY response out with a slick press release!

From all the articles that I have read today this one shows the best off roaders side in a good light. From what I heard this article hit a lot of different news papers. Vor, I kind of glanced through the report it is based on opinions and no scientific facts and a lot of shock pictures, it figures.

Has everyone sent out the letters that the ASA asked its members to send out? These letters may now be our only chance in hell to save our dunes. unless somebody comes up with a really great plan fast. remember the more voices heard the better. just a suggestion.

I just can't believe it. It makes me sick that people want to take our recreationg away to save some plants that they will NEVER go look at. Or ANYONE else for that matter. I know Duners do not destroy the plants out there. I have seen some kids in a golf cart riding over the bushes on the canal side of Gecko and went over there and explained to them that it's only hurting our dune privilages so they can be "rebelious".. They stopped. I've kept my mouth shut about this article but now I'm FURIOUS. I'm going to write my city council and the Govenor today. WE SHALL KEEP OUR DUNE, Hey, if we lose our dunes, lets take a stand against the use of Paper, since it destroys our forests and those people aren't off roaders.....(the tree cutters)

if a tree falls in the woods when nobody is around, dooes it make a sound? if a plant grows in the middle of the dunes and the people who fight so hard to save it never look at it, should it be saved? if the happiness of hundreds of thousands of people is at risk because of a plant, who is more important, us or the plant?
the world may never know.

Gonedune, Look at the very first post on this topic. It lists an article concerning this report and then gives a URL link where you can read it...

Poorboy I couldnt have said it better. Not to mention how much money everyone has invested in there toys. I myself dont like to ride anywhere else so my toy will be worth pretty much nothing if they close it completely. If they do shut the dunes down lets hire Thugs to go and destroy all the dam Milk-Vetch. Im sure they would come up with something else though.

i have a species that needs to be protected. Their habitat is being encroched upon by senseless humans. Their winter grazing land is being parcelled off and this species way of life is in threat of ceasing to exit.
welcome dunus ridericus(commonly refered to as the dune rider) to the endarged species list.
