I think I know the answer, but I want to make sure I'm right. Can a stock Blaster and a Stock Warrior make it all the way to glamis store from Gordon's Well? My buddies kids ride those bikes and we were talking about taking them this Friday before the rest of our group shows up. I know our YFZ's will make it, but I'm not sure about the kids bikes. I believe they should. Please advise.

I think it is only about 20 miles, but I'm not sure. The Blaster is the one I worried about as well.

here is something i did discover in my garage. if someone has a 6pack rack it fits 2 64oz gatorade bottles in it perfectly. fill those full of gas and he should be good. that plastic won melt from what i have experienced. i know some plastic melts with gas and some dont.
so if someone in your group has a 6er they could do that for the blaster. the 6 pack rack has to be the aluminum style not the old steel ones like on three wheelers.

That would be my concern, being back there near the exhaust. We all run the six pack rack. I've thought about those little 1 gallon gas cans, but neither of us have one. I don't want to buy one for just this one ride.

We have an extra older Blaster we have as a spare bike for firends at our cabin up North. It seems that the Blaster can go farther than any of our bikes (Predator, 400 ex, yfz). The Blaster has gone over 40-50 miles on some rides (forest roads) and fuel has not been an issue.

Whatever, we never go on any 20 mile rides when I'm there

I see how you are

That is why we can do it this time, because you won't be holding us up. J/K. I just don't like to waste the time on that kind of ride when we only have Saturday and early Sunday. Plus normally my wife and daughter are there and I don't want to leave her for that long of a time. She isn't going this weekend, so I'm thinking about doing this. I have an idea. Why don't you forget about the party (you don't even want to go to anyways), come out Thursday night with us and go on this ride.

Hey you guys are teaming up on me, that's not fair. Oh the peer pressure. BTW Will you haven't rode with me in a while, you've never seen me in action on my own bike. Your going to be eating my dust the next time we go out. Better watch out bud....I was even catching a little (just a little) air in Ocotillo. Be afraid, be very afraid. There won't be any crying the next time

ok all peer pressure aside....
SF have you ever made a run from gordons to china wall? my buddy and i have been wanting too but when it comes time for it we usually chicken out or something goes on where we cant. im just curious gas wise if that is doable.
if you have hows the ride? if we went we planned on makeing a beeline straight for it without going through the closure. meaning not playing around in the dunes sowe had enough gas to run the hill a few times. then head back and play in the dunes on the way back.
have you done it?
SANDFANATIC
Dec 8 2004, 10:26 AM
No I have not done that. I really don't even know how to get to China Wall at all. If you do that, I would suggest going to the store and gassing up first. Then when your done playing, go gas up again before heading back south.

well i have a 4gal baja tank so i dont need to gas up too much. thats why i was thinking of the gatorade bottles.
from what everyone has told me its along the closure. from gordons its on the north side of the big closure. i think i need a GPS and get it figured out that way.
let me know how your ride turns out.

The gatorade bottles do work very well, but I put them in a backpack instead of the six pack rack. They don't get shooken up as much. I've made that ride many times, careful some of the whoops are the size of V.W.'s

question here,
yamiboy you said to use an aluminum rack and not a steel one, jsut wondering why?
i would think that aluminum will heat up quicker then steel right?
i dont thinik it matters though since the aluminum is more popular these days anyways,
i would think the warrior would make it but the blaster is another question, if someone has a water pack just fill maybe a small gatorade bottle or two with some mixed gas for the blaster, if it has the oil block off, and then put it in the pack, assuming that the smaller gatorade bottles are the same plstic as the bigger ones

this is an aluminum six pack rack....

never have had a problem with mine heating up.

I know what a aluminum is, just wondering why you said to put the gas in a aluminum one and not a steel one
SANDFANATIC
Dec 8 2004, 04:02 PM
Shocker,
The reason he said the new style aluminum ones was because of there depth and sqaureness. The old steel ones are round and shallow.
SHOCKER
Dec 8 2004, 04:06 PM
oh, i made a beefy steel on for my Z, but its heavy, really heavy so i dont even use it, its like 10 or 15 pounds, maybe more, it looks good and is strong though
ya going out to gordons some time after christmas? thats when we are going out next, we are going to buttercup i believe, it depends if and when throwinrox goes, but if they dotn go we will rpobably go the weekend after christmas to buttercup

The bikes may make it fine, but will the kids have the endurance to make it there and back?

Actually, that is funny that you bring that up. My buddies wife called him today and told him that she will bring out the daughters Friday afternoon with her. So now, no kids. It will be just him and I on 450's going on the glamis run. Now it will be much quicker of a ride.
