Full Version: Olds And Trash
Idea: Is there any way to get a big dumpster out to Olds? Sounds weird but does anyone think it may help with the amount of trash left there. People would not have to worry about getting in trouble for carring empty cans back to camp.

Of course it's a good idea.... all are.
BUT **** the people that would use it are the ones of us that allready bring our
stuff back home with us.
The others, trash themselves, would just pile it up next to the dumpster...

The only problem I see is that if the cans overflow, people will leave the trash next to the cans, instead of taking the trash out.

Bas---ds should be duct taped and thrown in the bin ... They would feel right at
home...
The BLM cannot, and will not put large trash bins in the dunes. It would require a massive amount of EIS statements, studies etc.
A smaller bin would be vandalized.
It would be much easier (and cheaper, IMO) if they simply had the trash picked up after each holiday.
That's what they do at my beaches.

Exactly!
And if the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation are were being treated with the respect it deserves, what is done at a popular beach, at Yosemite, at the Santa Monica Pier for Pete's sake... would be done at the dunes.
We draw larger crowds, take in more money (than less cared-for areas) and are touted as a world class riding area.
We need to start demanding our due.

it would be much cheaper and easier if everyone did
there share and took their own trash with them.

Got me. I've been suggesting it for years.
The usual response is something along the lines of...
"We need to kill the trashers." or "It's OUR job to keep the dunes clean." or "It is not the BLM's job to pick up after trashy duners."
As if duners are somehow different then the rest of society. :shrug:
Go figure.
Interesting, I must have missed this. Is it the BLM telling you this or other duners?
Simple fix give one LEO a dig. camera and post them at the dumpster on sunday, take a pic of the person dumping the trash and their lic. plate then mail the fine, if you can't fit it in the dumpster and put it on the ground you are littering, I bet this would raise lots of money

they can't, they spent all their money on pepper spray guns and riot gear.

I seem to remember something about the BLM getting prison labor crews out to the dunes to do cleanups from time to time a few years ago. Haven't heard much about it lately though.
Yeah, get these CDC'rs out there. Better than metal shop where they can make a shank to eff some gaurd up.
The truck to pick up and drop off would get stuck in the sand. For sure. Wouldn't make it 20 feet off the pavement.
