Not that this topic doesn't belong in Sandrail Tech, but I can't believe how long it takes to have a buggy built new. Doesn't look like mine will be done by New Years!

Was really looking forward to NOT riding my banshee at Gordon's for a change. There has to be a solution other than buying used. Here is a pic after 7 months(hope it works)

JWB I can feel your pain, I put my deposit down 6/24, and am praying for the car before Xmas, but I am not holding my breath. The reasons why mine is so late is it got delayed going to powdercoat, then the powdercoaters didnt know what color to do it, and didnt bother calling the builder to find out, so that was about 3 weeks, then we found out the wrong tranny was sent, so I had to wait for a new one, (blessing in disguise), and the main thing was the painter said things were getting done, and really hadnt been started, so the paint got started about a month later than expected, I honestly thought I would get my car 2 weeks before T-day, so I am really only a month and a half behind, but it seems like an eternity. I cannot put any blame on my builder, it is not his fault that the vendors did not deliver what they promised.

I agree with your statement about the builder! That's why I wasn't pointing any fingers. Can't put the blame anywhere directly, just that the whole process sucks! I guess if you want something "custom" like a buggy this is the price we pay (on top of the 50K it costs to build). Missed this whole season so far (been overseas) and New Years will be the first trip. Really wanted my car done in time. One more trip with the quad will be far from "the end of the world" as long as I'm duning!

Believe me I have done more than my fair share of bitching about not having the car, but I realized that at least I can afford to buy a car, which is alot more than some people can say, so I guess I have no right to bitch.

well, i stopped at abuilder near me the other day, they have 15 people working 10 hours a day 6 days a week building cars, when i was there the owner was on the phone biatching out a vendor for holding him up. he had about 10 cars in various stages of fabrication (4 on the jigs alone) and another 4 or 5 in finall assembly. he told me delivery time is the biggest problem right now as they are having to wait for alot of parts from vendors tranny's being the biggest holdup.

Well since you put it that way I guess I should be grateful. I could be complaining that I didn't have the money like you stated. Thanks for listening to me vent.

Just frustrated as I know you are.

Makes you wonder how crowded the dunes will get with everyone pumping out cars at 100% capacity?

there are so many things I can bitch about right now, but I went Xmas shopping the other day, and I couldnt help overhear people talking about what they are going to get and for whom, and how they are going to afford to get it, some of the things they were struggling about buying were not expensive items to me, but were to them, then I got to thinking how truely lucky I am. I am not rich by any means, but my wife and I both are fortunate in are jobs and do alright. It was just a reality check for me that I think I needed.

1/3rd? now thats funny, you must have gotten alot better of a deal than I thought, You know I like shiny stuff. my car may be a bit more $$$ but yours is faster. So does filling your tires up with helium really make the car that much lighter?

Ripster I think yours is quicker because it's not still sitting on the Jig.
It took me almost 7-8 months to get my car and that was 3 years ago. No bling was holding it up. just a long time to build it.
I keep watering it hoping it will some day turn into a long travel.

No doubt, Bling is slippery fast. I have been told chrome is much faster than stickers.

I can't wait to see the car. Sounds like it is going to be nice

I cant wait to see it either. but I did hear the coefficient of friction between air and chrome is much less than with air and powdercoat, so that should add at least 10-15 mph.

Thanks! Just keep an eye out. Many people in east county on the lookout right now for my car. It's not Dustins fault (of course) just a very bad turn of events. "Somebody" was watching and waiting for the car to be done. It was to be picked up today and was taken last night. They tried to get the panels and roof (locked up inside) but couldn't get them. However they got the frame and front spindles which makes the rest of my car worthless. Insurance will make sure I get my car it's just the 2 months more I have to wait! Just please keep an eye out. I will get my car, but this bastard who took it needs his Karma! Been waiting a long time and have a lot of friends looking! Ian: Hope your new years is better than mine! Will buy you a cold

if we ever meet up. Looks like I will be out at Olgilby this New Years with the Banshee for sure!
