oh man...I got a brand new ds650...and over T-day week it rained on it..no biggy, right....wrong....now the damn thing is squeeking like a 20 year old atc....its driving me crazy already!
I have narrowed it down to the rear swingarm needle bearings or possibly the shock bushings....anyone got a solution?

not an idea!!!!!

an actual viable proven solution.....?????

Sorry as mine is only an 'idea' rolleyes.gif

My R squeeks after a few months if I don't grease the zerks. Does the DS have zerks to grease?

Also put the bike on a stand and pull the swingarm pivot bolt out 'almost' all the way and grease it and the needle bearings.

Hope my idea helps icon_smile.gif

My 20 year old ATC squeaked like crazy for a year or more. I DREADED doing a swingarm bearing change. I ended up putting a different rear shock on it, and it went away- turned out to be the upper shock mount bolt, not the swingarm like I thought.

Doesn't seem likely that yours got wet way in there just sitting in the rain though.

Disassemble the entire rear suspension and re-grease everything. This should be done to all new bikes as the factory or dealership assemblers rarely put enough grease where it should be. My 2000 YZ was only a year old when I drove the swingarm bolt out and found it to be fairly corroded already, glad I caught it when I did. It's not a fun job I know but you'll be sorry you didn't. Have fun.

Chuck is right. On bikes, we do the steering head stem at the same time. The manufacturers don't want grease dripping all over their manufacturing plant so they put a minimum amount in the bearings. They say you should tear a brand new bike apart and grease the suspension pivots before you even break it in. You'll be surprised how little the amount of grease is in there.
THE BOMB
BIG HAD,

Bombardier was smart enough to put a zerk just off center on the swing arm pivot, a little diff to get to with that massive shock-but not too hard, pump that biatch full till it squirts out.........then put some grease in the zerk fitting too laughing.gif laughing.gif laughing.gif
