This just dosen't seem fair. I'm about to move from one side of town to the other. Which means I'll be living about 3-4 miles closer to the dunes (Heck I can see them every time I down the road off in the distance). But through some cruel twist of fate this move will almost double the amount of travel time from my home to the dunes user posted image

Waaaaaaaaaaaaa! Cry some more Jason. You obviously live way closer than most of us . . . quit your crying. LOL! And by the way, how is it that 3-4 miles closer makes the drive twice as long?

This bit of good bad news is only possible thanks to the layout of Yuma and I-8.

Currently I live about two blocks from the last exit on I-8 (right in old Yuma if you're familiar with the town). The house I'm moving into is on the western edge of Yuma but the same highway exit is still the closest for me.

From my current home it only takes about 20-30 minutes from the time I lock my door until I pull up at Buttercup (If I don't stop for gas!). But from the new home I've got a 15-20 minute drive through Yuma before I can get to the 20-30 minutes highway drive. It's just cruel fate that I went from one of the shortest drives in Yuma to the dunes to one of the longest!

Yeah I know, life is tough. user posted image Did I mention that the new house includes and insulated and air condtioned garage? I'll finally have somewhere better than the dining room floor to work on my motor, here's hoping It's back together and running soon!

Jason, I think there's A short cut. I Have friends who live at AVE C and 16 Th St and I avoid the town by going north on Ave C to the end and then to 4th St. No Town, No snow birds.

Actually Tim you just described the path I'll be taking from now on. From what you told me in your phone message a few weeks ago it sounds like your friends live about a block from my new house.

But even then it adds a good 5-10 minutes to drive. It's the curse of living so painfully close right now. Almost anywhere I move will increase my distance to the dunes!

One other small things I've been wanting to say. I may not like my current house since it is more or less in the ghetto, but just driving down my street it's EASY to pick out at least 5 or 6 duners. I know of 2 bajas and 2 rails and a quad or two all living on the same street.

Try making the 3 1/2 hour drive everytime you need a sand fix!! Sometimes I can't even do a weekend, so I'll leave at 5am...be on the sand by 8:30 or 9:00...ride non stop till 8:00 and make the drive home all in the same day!!!! You are spoiled....

P.S. Any good job openings in Yuma????
