the subject has come up about a group ride, so maybe some of us can hook up on New Years day and start the year off right with a group ride, since it would be nice to get people from gordons and buttercup together, how about meeting at a central location? How do you feel about the top of the ridge by the plank road at buttercup? that is in the middle of the buttercup camps, and not too far for a starting point from gordons, depending on how many and experience levels the ride could either be fast or slow, but I would like everyone to come so I am thinking a slower pace would be better to make sure everyone can keep up, I may be even able to have gas available so that people can get it if so they can get back to camp at gordons if needbe.
What do ya all think? any takers?
Keeping this in mind, right now I am not 100% sure I will be there, but I am definately trying, too many factors to tell right now.

Sounds good, but

that is a little early for me on a Saturday.
Also going to be in Ogilby that week I believe, so take me an hour or so to get there probably less but adding some time. I love the idea though.

Yeah, sounds good, but if we got people at olgibly, dune buggy flats and buttercup, the flats seems like the more central place, don't ya think.
Screamin Ian
Dec 14 2004, 10:19 PM
I was thinking about that, but if we ride in buttercup, then I figured meeting closer to the dunes would work, the flats at fordons is definately closer for the olgiby people, its a tough call, but I am open to suggestions.

Great idea as I will be at Olgilby as well! Still too early to tell if the buggy will be done??? Will be on the banshee that weekend the way it looks and have to be careful (doesn't have much range)

. Will probably know more next week when I find out more on the buggy. If not there is always President's weekend!

HV, the plank road from the flats is about 4 miles, once you go over the bridge to buttercup, hang a left, then there will be some camps in some flats there, then there is a ridge that runs perpendicular to the freeway, and the plank road runs from that ridge to the flats, you can see it from the freeway, when I check to see if the drags are on, I run up to the top of that ridge at buttercup and you can see the drags at gordons. its about halfway between gordons and greys well exits 1/2 mile south of the 8

I'd probably go if you met at Gordons, not too fond of riding all the way to the plank road with new paddles. Is this gonna be a fast ride or a kiddie ride or ?

Hey Dave I still want to do it, but this year has been so messed up with us moving and I still havent gotten the new buggy yet, we actually still dont know where we will be living over Xmas, Once we get settled I will do my best to organize it, but for now that project is on the back burner. I hope you all understand.

No worries...I didn't think it was supposed to go off until late season anyway, I just saw a 'group meet' thread and figured I'd pop in off-topic and ask.

A-Dare
Dec 19 2004, 06:50 PM

A-Dare
Dec 19 2004, 10:20 PM
I only ride a quad if the buggy's broke, so that's a yes, I'll be in the car. Not like a so fast ride that quads can't keep up or anything, but a quick pace. Besides, I don't have a 500hp ls1, just a vw for this guy.
Screamin Ian
Dec 20 2004, 08:09 AM
Well I will be out there at that time, so we will see whats up, IF I get the car I dont think I will have enough driving hours for a quick pace ride, but if I only have the quad I will try and keep up and if its just too fast I will just let you guys go. I wadded up the quad fairly good last year trying to keep up with some buggies and I dont want to do it again.
SDB
Dec 20 2004, 08:45 AM
Go as fast as you want, I'll be able to keep up.
A-Dare
Dec 20 2004, 07:16 PM
I guess that means I'm leading???? That's cool, Ian, it ain't gonna be super hairy ride, besides, if your followin in line (with the car) that thing should be so easy to drive (with PS and a V8), you should have no problem keeping up with me.
Screamin Ian
Dec 20 2004, 08:49 PM
well the car wont be ready for New Years, still waiting on paint, so I will be on the quad once again.

Dec 22 2004, 11:03 PM
well I just talked to YFZ4KT and he isnt going to be at 13.5 til late Friday and he is one of the reasons why I am going up there, so I will be going up there Saturday morning instead, probably leaving gordons around 8:15 or so, I dont want to get up there too late, but dont want to wake them up too early either. I have made arrangements for gas when I get up there so I know I will have enough to get back, I heard there is gas at the store and at boardmanville, but not sure. its a long ride, but anyone is welcome to cruise on up,
Route will probably be flats at the base of sand highway up to roadrunner then a diaganol(sp?) line from there to the washes, probably hitting olds along the way, then 13.5, gas and head back the same way, but maybe hitting china wall on the way back.
