TRX450r vs Banshee, better bike at Glamis?
ok, I know you guys have been going over this for awhile. But I'm about to plunk down some hard earned cash for a quad and I need to know straight up. Here's my reasoning, A new TRX450r costs a little over 6k out the door. Then I still have to spend another grand or more on parts. Pipe, intake, front and rear sand tire kits, lighting etc... I can have my pick of 20 used Banshees in the cycle trader for around 3-4K, and still have a couple thou left over. I have ridden a Banshee at Glamis and LOVED it! I have not had the chance to ride a TRX450r yet, hence my dillema. I did ride a YFZ450 and I did not like it. The power was awesome, but it is too small for me. I'm 6'1" and 225lbs. So with that said, between the TRX450r and the Banshee, which bike is better at GLAMIS? Not Pismo, not Dumont, not Ocotillo wells, just Glamis!

ps, I know about Brandon's 450r for sale here on the board and I just may buy it. Help me decide! Thanks

Have ridden the TRX450 thought it felt small till I rode it for 5 min.
And the reason there selling the Banshee's is ..............To buy the thumpers. Would ride one first then decide only you can make the choice ,But if something happened to my Shee and I had to replace it the TRX is the one I would buy hand fricken down icon_biggrin.gif

my 2 cents is the banshee is the best for glamis i have a yfz 450 and its good at glamis but the trx was crap to me it didnt have enought balls but when i rode the banshee i knew it was the best for sand

I WOULD GET THE TRX.

The Banshee is the King of sand ,but handles like do do. If your a hill shooter or Drag racer get the Shee. If you wanna Dune more get the Honda...

The banshee doesn't handle as well as the thumper. It's suspension design is almost twenty years old and even then, it wasn't a great design. A set of good shocks and a revalved rear shock make worlds of difference though. The 450 suspension is excellent.

The 450 makes alot of horsepower with pipe and jet mods. It is in a high state of tune though and will cost significantly more to hotrod than a banshee. As you hotrod it, the reliability will plummet and 450's cost alot more than the $400 to rebuild the banshee.

The banshee is still the horsepower king with pipes and a jet kit bringing out 7-10 horsepower off the bat. $200 in porting can bring out close to 20 more though the powerband will be drag only with that radical of a port job. They are simple to work on, parts are everywhere, and the sound a banshee makes, even a stock one with pipes is music.

I am selling my banshee but not for a thumper. I don't ride it enough anymore. My two stroke dirtbike takes all my time up now.
Crowdog
450R. I am 6' 1", 200lbs and it feels right to me.

I have had both, and the 450R is a much more enjoyable ride. Don't have to shift as much, better ride and no pre-mix.

But then again, if you "LOVED" the Banshee, go for it. Just don't ride a 450R and you'll never know the difference. icon_biggrin.gif

I have 97 banshee with a couple thousand in mods and a 04 trx450r with hrc kit, cam, yoshi pipe, k&n filter. When i first bought my 450 i thought i made a $6000 mistake because it was so slow. After putting the mods on the 450 it runs great now and the only time i ride my banshee is when i want to race up olds.

I'd go with an 250R....great power and the best handling
