I stood my wifes 400 ex up all the time with no probs. But, I see that the petdork* on my KFX does not have an off? Anyone stand these things up? If so what's the routine?
Thanks guys!

I have a Z400 and standing it up has never been a problem for me even with no off position on the petdork. are you experiencing leaks?
Screamin Ian
that must be some funky designed petc ock for it to not have an off, isnt that the point?

I just bought a Z400. My salesman told me the problem with standing them up had to do with the dry sump oiling. From what I understand there is a vacuum valve or something like that, and that is why there is no off on the petdork*.

I havent actually tried it as of yet. I am just brain storming for more room in my 5th wheel. The manual says it can be stowed upright. But, I just wanted to see if anyone had tried it and what the deal was. I am told that the "on" position is actually "off" when the engine is not running and that gas won't leak. However the "prime" position will allow fuel to flow before starting the engine. And not to store it up right when in this position.

you may have to do that with little or no gas in it if its leaking, probably the best way. better for the bike too. just dont filler up before you go home.

Spode, I'm experiencing leaks with my ladies bike. I think that I might have it figured out though. If you scroll down, you'll see where I asked the question too and RRider said to have 1/2 tank or less in it and SHOCKER said he turned the petc-ock around so that it aimed skyward. So we'll see how these two things work out. Mine leaked fuel the whole way home and in storage....it pretty much pissed me off. angryfire.gif

I know BeachHead stands his up. He has one of each, you could PM him and ask.....

well is it a z400 or a kfx 400?????? laughing.gif

Standin it up is ok, the fuel valve has no off, because it is activated by the vacuum from the engine. Might want to let it sit on 4 wheels for awhile after its been standing up in case any oil went where its not suppsoed to be.
Lucky
Move mine that way all the time no problems with fuel flowing anywhere.

i know, i wanted to see if anyone noticed. note the laughing.gif
SHOCKER
I stand mine up, the only trick i do is stick a rag in the airbox because the carb will leak into the box, until the carb is dry, then its done leaking, sucks but it happens
