We might be cancelling our trip this weekend and head out next weekend instead. I don't want to spend all my desert money sitting in the rain. Would rather wait and go when I can RIDE.
I guess we'll have to wait and see if this weather clears up. It sucks but we drove two weekends ago when it was windy and it was not fun

what pass? we might be heading in the same direction towards Dumont. which pass are you talkin about? its gonna determine weather we go to Dumont o Gordons for New Years.
if it snows heading north towards Dumont then we are gonna head to Gordons. dont want to get snowed in between Dumont and home(SD).

You remember corre!ctly. You don't HAVE to drive a motorhome/trailer either. Load up the truck and make a quick/easily escapable trip

That sounds fun myself, my hubby and my dad all sleeping in the cab of a F150 cab

, no longer have a tent. Got rid of that when we bought the motorhome.
Could be an adventure

Rode in the rain during a summer night ride that people bitched out on. I had fun, but the lightning started getting kinda close and our group splintered and went back to camp. I left after the ride. ElCamino should have, he splintered his arm the next morning.

I was planning on riding in the rain, its the wind that bugs me, gusting at 40mph out there now, and driving out there is no bueno either, we decided to go out 1st thing tomorrow, but we are gonna check the weather first.

Ian,
We drove out 2 weekends ago when it was windy and they had a wind advisory. It sucked. We blew aout 5-6 feet to the right on the Pine Valley bridge. I thought for a second we were going over. After that we decided if it's windy like that, then we won't drive again. It made for a good fire conversation when we got there. But the whole way out there all I could think about was our motorhome blowing over. Not good.
I surely hope the weather clears up for you/us. Have a safe trip

Well, Ian left, the winds appear to have calmed and the rain let up a bit, so he is going to go for it. He will call when he gets over the grade in a few hours. Wish him luck!!!

I was out at about the same time, warriorgirl...wind picked my trailer up and set it down a couple feet over twice crossing the bridge! I ended up creeping the rest of the way out at about 45 mph...

We are waiting for the weather and still loading the trailer

Anyone know what the best site to check on the wind conditions up the grade?

Will be towing my new 5th for the first time and it's much larger then my old trailer so I don't want to try the winds the first trip over the grade??

Ian made it safely over the hill. YAY!!!! He called and said it wasn't too bad until he actually got down to the bottom where it started pouring so bad, he couldn't see anything for a little bit, but when he got to El Centro the ground was dry. How weird is that?!?!?!?

ouch that seems alittle too far for me and plus my crew doesnt have any idea of why i would be visiting there so i may not go. but who knows i might weet up with them anyways.
i might talk my buddy into venturing out to China wall if possible. i know what Ian rides and ill end up seeing him one time or another.
where is he/you two camping? i know what his rig is and seen it before. wasnt it like center field? or something? ill have to stop by and say hi once i get there.

Dec 29 2004, 03:02 PM
Ian and James are camped about 1/4 mile from the base of Sand Highway, 1 to 1.5 miles north of the vendors. And he says it is really frickin beautiful out right now and he has a beer (or 5) for you if you stop by camp.
The Sat. Ride is going to be up the Sand Highway, cut across to hit China Wall then head over to wash 13.5.
Also, Ian said to tell you he went to the jump you guys found a year ago and it has totally changed.
