i am thinking about getting new paddles and dont know what i want. i ride a DS650 baja so they need to be strong. i bought some used Taller Haulers on ebay and they didnt last a trip lol. i want to try the new Ripper from skat-trak but wanted to know what you guys like and use. i love to throw a good roost but i also need them to last. thanks

Steven
PS i have sand stars now but want new ones but not sand stars unless they are the best.
Screamin Ian
I have had skat trak haulers, sand skate II's and the sand stars, and by far like the sand stars the best, they hook up like mad but yet the rear end can be pushed out for better turning.

For straight line traction, and less weight, the regular haulers are plenty. For turning, and if weight is not an issue, itp sand stars are the cheapest. For the best of both worlds, I would put my $ on skat trak edge paddles.

Those Edges come apart. Retodd has aset. Every single paddle is ripping away from the tire. My roomate had a set too. Same thing.

I wonder why they would, and regular haulers would not? I'm pretty sure skat trak will re vulcanize, or replace them if it is a defect though.

that will happen when all you do is race up and down wash road at full throttle. If he ever actually duned, they would have lasted him a lot longer
Bansh88
That's true.
Retodds are coming apart halfway through the paddle itself. My roomates were actually seperating where there were glued on. I think Dirtgirl has a set doing the seperate thing too.
HA2
comp cut padla brats are great and come in a 9 paddle 22 incher which would handle the DS's torque fine. pricey though. they had great hook and still turned very nicely.

id also wait to see what the new sand skates come out to be.

TANK
buddy has 2 bombs. both ten paddle skat-traks. one hauler on edge. as far as hookup i would say they are even, as far as turning the edge takes it. ive seen MANY, actualy every edge paddle tire i have seen was just demolished. maybe just an 8 paddle extreme hualer on that thing would get you the hookup and turning. we have a baja also with sand skate II's, just not enough grip. we are going to put more than likely 10 paddle edge's on it when my dad decides to spend the money. well worth it though.
faster dad!!!
I have a set of edge paddles that I need to get rid of, they are almost brand new! I replaced them w/stu dsert track comp cuts!!!! A BAD ASS TIRE!!!!!
duneatic
money is not a problem. i dont care how much they cost i just want a good tire. i dont want a tire that will be falling apart fast so i guess edge is out. and i was thinking maybe the extreme will be good. what are the comp cuts?

Steven
TANK
tires cut with a hot blade.
duneatic
why would you cut the paddles??? how does that make it better?

They make them with way too many paddles on purpose. Then they cut off the extra ones in different configurations depending on what you want to do with them. Comp cuts are great for straight line acceleration, like a hauler. Play cut is better for just that, playing.
duneatic
do you have them cut or do you do them? cause i cant do that lol. and what tire do they cut? are those the best tires? i would get the play cut.

Steven
24v
They cut them. You just buy them however you want them. They are good tires. Are they the best? Maybe, but that depends on who you ask. Keep in mind however, you will pay a pretty penny for them.

Lot's of good info on the padla brats here:

duneatic
so do you know how much they are yet mike? i think the play cuts will be great for me. i like to shoot up the hills and i like to putt around camp and jump and stuff so. thanks

Steven
Mike330R
Comp Cuts are 150 each, so play cuts will be cheaper. Just call the source and ask how much they are.

he also has new SS2's coming out thare are 5 pounds lighter then before. They are also cheaper---about 180 a set on rims. ot sure if they are ready to be released yet.

TANK
hey mike, did chris have the comp cuts last weekend? like a really soft hauler.
Mike330R
Yes he was using the comp cut padla brats. 8" rim
TANK
they seem to be sweet, but even the 310 didnt save him at the hill laughing.gif and whats this i hear about him beating you to the TOP?
Mike330R
He smoked me after I smoked him a FEW times the day before. Ask him why he smoked me though icon_wink.gif

TANK
will do laughing.gif

do you think the play cuts would get peeled back on a DS? i would think maybe the comp cuts as far as padla's go. but ours is a beast and it only has a slip on and k&n.

so you think the play cut might not be tough enough?

and should i wait for the new one's mike i really dont know if the weight will matter that much. and has anyone seen the new skat traks in person or heard anything about them? the rippers.

Steven
duneatic
well never mind about the rippers laughing.gif look here http://www.skat-trak.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=79]

Steven
CripKnievel
sand stars. good hook up but cant slide that well.
TANK
hey duneatic, do you have any mods?
YFZ4KT
I am running ITP SandStars, I like them the best. They get good bite going straight and they allow for sliding around as needed. They fit my riding style just fine...and not to hard on the pocket $$$ either..
duneatic
i have a CT pipe, jetted, dial-a-jet and air box lid off.

Steven
TANK
same with us but we have a yoshi pipe, are you leaning toward any paddles yet?
duneatic
no i just want a really good paddle for playing around. i do more than go in a straight line and shoot up the hill. i have tried most of the well known paddles i wanted to try something new.

Steven
TANK
i vote sand stars or extreme hualers.
duneatic
have u used extremes? i am thinking of those too. if i have to i will get some new stars but i wanted something different.

Steven
TANK
i have ten paddle extremes on my banshee. i love them. i say 8-9 extreme hualers for your bike. you want em to slip a little bit so you can turn.
LOOKBOY
I have a set of 20x10x10 9 paddle extremes I geting rid of if you are interested?
duneatic
ummm i will see and get back to you asap thanks. i am still thinking.
Steven
Fireballsocal
Steven, I was very impressed with the padla brats, play cut on a raptor. They hook up very well in a straight line and slide when you want them to. The paddle design is pretty durable also. I have 8 paddle haulers (Skat Trak) on my banshee and they don't slide as well as I would like. If I were to keep it, I would replace them with a set of the padla brats ahead of the other tires. I don't think your bomb will have to much power for these paddles.
Fireballsocal
Oops, these click were what I thought were the padla brats. You can see what is meant by cutting the paddles.

Hey Mike, what is the difference between these mini desert tracs and the padla brats?
